Discussion Before I try, I must ask! [SOLVED]

Before I try, I must ask if creating an Anime Music Video (AMV) tedious or down-right hard with much effort and editing skills needed? Why I ask this? I want to make an AMV just for me to watch using old music videos from my childhood. Boredom, you can call it, but I am slightly curious if I got what it takes to make a low-quality AMV.

Before I try, I must ask this in case it needs lots of time, then I'll rather not commit myself to it... regrettably so.

 

Doesn't it depend on the quality you want the video to be? and your set of standards?
the higher standards you have the longer it will take.

 

You can google how to make one. Heard that you can even learn how to make a bomb on the internet. Tis a scary yet essential place.

 

It's not really that hard at all. Even less so if you're doing it for yourself... depending on how much of a perfectionist you are anyway.

If nothing else, just edit the music you want over the clips you have and you're done. Don't worry about synching the lips or any of that BS unless you really want to.

 

Exactly what it says here. You can learn to make it on the internet, that scary place that confuses lethal gas with beautiful crystals.

I've made AMVs back in the day, and I mean way back in the day! I used a 133mhz computer and QuickEdit, took me 14 hours to encode stuff that was 144p( Back then RM was cool, and when Divx came out it was unreal(pun intended) ). I did so with 0 experience at the time (and people liked them a lot)

So is it hard to make AMVs? Now that you have super fast processors, GPUs and etc, it's a piece of cake!

 

It's just that... sigh, my laziness is boundless and much more my unwillingness to labor is infinite as beyond the universe.

 

That's more of a specific region in the corner of the internet's damp basement. You don't go there for good things.

 

If it's just a bunch of anime music put together then its very easy but if you want something more then it will depend what you want on the AMV

 

Oh... wait... wait a minute! D-did you say code? I though it AMV production was user friendly, but you have to code to make one?

 

lol, not code, encode! It is the process of compressing your video to minimize the file size while maintaining quality. Back then it was hard cause you had a lot of competing codecs and all of them were crap. But you want one that is well supported but at same time offers good optimization options.

Nowadays it's pretty much x264 or x265 (for newer pcs).. or if you want to support open source Theora, VP8, VP9 and AV1.

But you can generally just use the default settings and call it a day. While if you play around with configuration you can get better results, but there is little point since all you youngins and your broadband!

(Also back in my days, many hosts wouldn't let you host things over 10mb, so you needed your AMV below that number)

You don't have to code. I made one close to 10 years ago with the factory software. It's easy if you're not expecting much.
