recently I was streaming persona 5 gameplay walkthrough, there were this one of the scene where the teacher asked the mc about Olympic's competition that emperor Nero did, and I answered it spontaneously "singing" and it was correct, umu!
I will admit, anime or manga has made me aware of obscure elements in history. I love it when that happens. Take "Chrono Monocrome" for instance Taught me about the existence of "the Turk" an apparent automaton (hoax) that traveled Europe in the 18th century. Challenging various famous figures to a chess game and winning, like Napoleon or Benjamin Franklin.
On my entrance exam for graduation courses, there was an MCQ regarding the antonym of 'nimble'. Back then, I didn't know the meaning of nimble let alone it's antonym. Luckily a couple of days back I had watched Bleach, the fight between ichigo and byakuya, the dubbed version. And byakuya happened to describe his attack as nimble assault. So I took a leap of faith and selected the answer which was used to describe Ichigo's attack. +1 for anime.
If there is one thing that I learned with anime, it's english. Well, I learn much more with novels, but still.
well, the benefits is? I've become N.E.E.T? I've become less interested into real people anymore? well maybe it's only negative that I get? too bad for me then!~
But you can always miss some of the more obscure bits. History is a broad subject, and can take a lifetime of study. Sometimes finding other avenues to become aware of certain historical events is beneficial, because it sparks the interest to look up said history.
I love qoutes and not to mention exiting feeling of blood boiling when watching epic scenes. It is less time consuming.
