I'm not much of a hardcore smut person so I will pass on the scramble. Plus, I will fail so badly at translating those portions. But I will totally read it~
Summaries are all MTL and completely rewritten my way so that it makes sense. Prologue: There's a fire. He falls down the stairs and sprains his legs (?), and he's super regretting the fact that he only wore his new pair of Nikes once, he never delivered the love letter he wrote, and he didn't finish writing a class essay about a novel (?). So many regrets! He's only 17, he doesn't want to die. Slowly crawling on the ground, he tries to make his way towards the exit when -- BANG -- explosion... Chapter 1: The forest was foggy and cold. A carriage, surrounded by guards and their horses, makes its way through the shortcut through the forest. This small path is only known to a few people so it should be safe, but ahead a flock or birds suddenly burst forth from the forest. The guards stop. The sudden stop of the carriage led to the young man inside to lurch forward and hit his head. "What the hell is wrong with you dogs!" he exclaims with a red forehead while his guards pull out their swords. About 17 years of age, dressed in a milk-coloured satin gown, a purple belt tied around his waist and wearing a gold crown and an arrogant look, he is the epitome of a rich haughty noble. He would have been good looking if not for his haughty appearance... "My Lord, there might be an ambush ahead of us." "You've said this over 10 times already, and none of those times was an ambush. Idiot! Just keep going!" The guards whisper acquiescence. The boy is the prince of North Ling kingdom; there is a chance of him becoming the future emperor. Disobedience may spell disaster. Despite the guards' reservations, they continue onward... CLANG -- long chains with hooks exploded from both sides, crossing over in front of the group. The frightened horses reared back as enemy soldiers appeared out of the forest and surrounded the young man and his guards. It was Chu Jing's general and his troops. A battle ensued. The chaotic scene scared the young man...the rescue failed! The young man's guards were strong, but their numbers were too few. The recaptured young man stood up, staring at the general. "I never thought of running away" he defiantly said. The general's eyes flashed a trace of contempt, but his face remained expressionless. "We shall escort you back to the palace." Brushing the dirt off from his clothes, the young man didn't even notice when he got shot. All of a sudden, the feathered tail of an arrow stuck out from his chest. A scarlet flower bloomed on his milky-white clothes. The young man looked down at his chest, incredulous, before falling to the ground.
Ch 2: Su Ziwu wakes up, transmigrated into the body of the prince. The prince has been living in Chu Jing's palace for 12 years, accompanied by his servant (Moon?). The rest of the palace servants treat him with disdain. Moon stays with Ziwu and helps nurse him back to health, reminding him of his mother (in his previous life). Ziwu nostalgically exclaims "I'll never be able to return..." but Moon thinks he meant "return to his country" and not "return to his previous life." Ch 3: We meet the Emperor. He's ruthless and cold. He can see through people's schemes and will quickly punish them accordingly. Ch 4: MC is bored! He's stuck in bed, recuperating, for over a month. After finally being able to get up without his maid crying piteously, he walks outside and does some calisthenics while singing under his breath (or whatever the morning stretch routine is), attracting strange looks towards him. After eating, he surveys the area around him while thinking It's important to know escape routes, just in case of a fire... just as he is about to walk out the gate *shwing* a blade appears centimeters in front of his nose, almost chopping it off. He's under house arrest and he finally finds out his situation from his loyal servant. He "confesses" to his servant that he lost his memories, and they both agree that it's better to forget all those unpleasant experiences.
Ch 5: MC is bored so he takes a knife from the kitchen and makes a hole in the wall. He makes his way towards a dilapidated house and meets a 13-yr-old boy making medicine. The house is a medicine place, and the boy was punished to the back of it to pound and grind medicine. MC notices the child has blisters on his hands from the work and gets mad; how can a weak child be bullied like this! So he takes over the kid's job and tells the kid to bandage his hand. Ch 6: MC continues sneaking off to the medicine house every day and helping the kid. His servant is suspicious; why does his back ache so much? why is he so tired? but she doesn't pry into it. MC's really annoyed by the adults. Child labor! Forced cheap labor! Ugh... but at least he's getting some information from the kid. Information like... the Palace is a dangerous place and you'll get killed! People who you believe are friends can easily backstab you! Get away from here fast! MC is very depressed, but his spirits are quickly lifted by his maid, another servant (Chun Lan), and the kid. He considers them to be his sisters and brother, and they play together in his little prison.
Ch 7: Emperor again. He and the prime minister are going over reports sent over by spies. Are people trying to save the MC, or are they trying to assassinate him? The Emperor believes the latter. Because the MC is the third prince(?), he's a threat to others in line for the throne (despite being a hostage for 12 years and not having ambition and always indulging in dalliances). There's another character mentioned, LY. The Emperor wants him to take over the matter (investigate? I'm not sure). Apparently, he's a bigshot. I didn't pay much attention fully mtl-ing this so I may have missed a lot of important information. Ch 8: Freedom! MC is able to walk around more without having to sneak out. He's feeling like a kid who finally gets permission to go to an amusement park. He doesn't know where to go, but just wants to wander around and see the sights of the Palace. Such a beautiful place... how much of the people's money was spent to build this? Ignoring the people's sweat and sacrifice, ignoring their life and death... the current dynasty won't survive. MC thinks his thoughts out loud and is overheard by (who else) the Emperor. (MC also recites a poem before he goes on a rant, but we're not sure if the Emperor and his people heard that part). The Emperor reaches his hand out towards the MC (to strangle him?! the MC thinks in panic) ... and pinches his chin between his fingers, looking into his face before casting him aside and walking away. Emperor's entourage follow the Emperor, and MC runs away in fear. FIRST ENCOUNTER completed.
Ch 9: MC stays in his room for 3 days, freaked out and unable to sleep. His maids think that he's being cursed or something, so they're gonna do some dangerous witchcraft to cure him or something like that. Ch 10: In order to "save" MC, the two maids knock him out with sleeping incense and move him to an area full of Yin energy, except when they were in the middle of transporting the MC, they are caught by a patrol! Before the patrol finds the MC, the head eunuch comes and berates them for dilly-dallying. Apparently, there were other slaves who were supposed to prepare the concubine - to bring her to the Emperor! The quilt that the MC is wrapped in gets taken by other servants and loaded onto a sedan chair, to be delivered to His Majesty... Someone else can take over from here~ hahahaha.
Do they always deliver concubines to His Majesty wrapped in a quilt and unconscious? Seems to be a far-fetched mistake to make, considering an assassin could easily sneak in that way . Like don't they at least check? It might be too early to judge, but it sounds like this novel might annoy me from time to time .
