Because he scored well in exams, he receives a chance to go to a prestigious school where ML is attending (he has a crush on ML), and MC thinks of this as a chance to get close to ML, but SuRpRiSE--the boy that he was switched with at birth is really close to the ML. So it becomes a situation of "I was supposed to be the one in your position; I should've been the childhood sweetheart of ML, etc." At some points, it gets sad and bitter, but ML is really sweet to MC and gives him the family he never had.
