I think this novel was a quick transmigration. There is a cultivation arc that the Mc was a squirrel (or mink I forgot) and ML is an nine tailed fox. The original owner of the squirrel body was treated as a pet/servant by the nine tailed fox. The original story/plot line before mc transmitted was that the protagonist of the plot line (who is an apprentice to a sect) found the nine tailed fox and they become contracted. The original squirrel later on is left behind, gets his tail cut off, and dies. Similar events happen to the Mc (not including the cutting off his tail). After being left by the nine tailed fox the mc becomes a dragon. At the end of the arc the nine tail fox loses his nine tails and memories. Mc killed him in the end. I think I read this on Chrysanthemum Garden but I can’t find it.
