I was reading some newish yaoi manga yesterday. The uke was in love with his (straight?lol) best friend of 10 years. Things happen, seme realizes uke loves him finally notices uke and decides to give it a try (forces a bj on uke, typical yaoi). He tells the uke he didn't like seeing him close with other men and after sucking his d, asked shall we try this out? Uke gets angry at seme and bolts, then decides to move to NY and forget the seme. Uke was apparently afraid that seme will one day want to have kids and get married and will leave the uke eventually, so why even start and get hurt (dude, you kept an unrequited love for 10 years).

I strongly wish that seme and uke lose contact, uke comes back in 10 years and sees seme happily together with another guy who healed seme's heart after the uke ran away. Then uke can sit alone in regret. He didn't even say goodbye, just up and left lol.

And this is my opinion on Japanese BL - too many unreasonable, logic-defying, annoying characters, jump straight to sex, and rape examples out there (there are some good ones tho :3). Didn't mean to bash the whole genre, but by god, I was so annoyed with this manga. Aaand, reading the synopsis for this novel gave me the same vibes. Let's not forget the tragedy tag and the suicides tag?? Not putting this on my dropped list yet, but I'll wait for spoilers first. Not sure I wanna raise my blood pressure by reading this just yet.

 

I feel ya, hon. After reading Chinese BL webnovels and English BL novels, I can't go back to yaoi mangas anymore. It irks me in the wrong way from all the wrong and non-con or dub-con in there. And the uke are ALWAYS pushovers while in Chinese or English BLs, they at least have some backbones (also the gong's stamina in 90% of these webnovels is weird lol).
