Community Board Games: Checkers "Checkers", also known as English Draughts or American Checkers, is a board game with the objective of eliminating all of your opponent's pieces. This thread is for nuffians who are interested playing the game. If you want to try out the game or play casually, feel free to join in on the "community game" in this thread. If you want to play a "private game" 1v1, check the poll on this thread and PM someone who indicated interest on the poll. The poll will allow you to change your vote, so if you are no longer interested in 1v1 games, please change your vote on the poll so it stays updated with people who are actually interested in private games. How to play "Community" Checkers: There are two teams: O's and X's that alternate turns Feel free to join either team during the game. How to play: Normal pieces can only move or jump forwards. When an "O" piece reaches the opposite side, it becomes crowned as a "@" piece that can move/jump pieces backwards. When an "X" piece reaches the opposite side, it becomes crowned as a "#" piece that can move/jump pieces backwards. Jumping is always mandatory. If a player has an option to jump, they must take it. When it feels like the game is over, start the game over again! Rules: Don't double post. Please alternate turns between O and X. Copy-paste the entire game board and add your new move Click "reply" and remove the quotes Keep the "CODE" tag and set the font to "Courier New" tag to preserve formatting Write your move in words under the game board You can switch teams, but don't troll or deliberately try to lose for one team or the other. We recommend playing this game on desktop because the formatting is bugged on mobile.

How many can you jump after promoting? I know 3 variations: 1. you may move and jump as far as you want in a line as long as you do not jump 2+ pieces 2. you may move as far as you want in a straight line, but jumps must stop on the square after 3. you may only move one square at a time btw the first is my favorite xD
One question I always had: if one move makes it so that several pieces can jump and be jumped, what happens?
You take it in segments; first you pick your first jump (it can be any as long as it is a jump) then if the piece has a second jump, you must do a second jump etc.

I meant something like this: - O - - - O - - X - - - - - - X - - - - - - - X to - O - - - O - - X - X - - - - - - - - - - - - X
Yeah, so O will choose the first jump (which piece does not matter) and since there isn't a double jump, the turn ends.
then Code: A B C D E F G H ╔════════════════════════╗ 8 ║▒▒▒ O ▒▒▒ O ▒▒▒ O ▒▒▒ O ║ 8 7 ║ O ▒▒▒ O ▒▒▒ O ▒▒▒ O ▒▒▒║ 7 6 ║▒▒▒ O ▒▒▒ O ▒▒▒ ▒▒▒ O ║ 6 5 ║ ▒▒▒ ▒▒▒ ▒▒▒ ▒▒▒║ 5 4 ║▒▒▒ X ▒▒▒ ▒▒▒ ▒▒▒ ║ 4 3 ║ ▒▒▒ X ▒▒▒ X ▒▒▒ O ▒▒▒║ 3 2 ║▒▒▒ X ▒▒▒ X ▒▒▒ X ▒▒▒ X ║ 2 1 ║ X ▒▒▒ X ▒▒▒ X ▒▒▒ X ▒▒▒║ 1 ╚════════════════════════╝ A B C D E F G H Moves: 1. Then maybe I got the rules wrong? I reckoned that both: - O - - - - - - X - - - - - - - - - - - - - X - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - O - - - - - - X - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - O and - - - - - O - - - - X - - - - - - - - - - - X - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - O - - - - - - X - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - O were valid double jumps...
