Spoiler: Why did ML kill SZL? SZL (Ji Pei) is a murderer who devised an elaborate plot to pin the blame on an innocent (though not virtuous) person. He even tried to use emotional blackmail on MC to absolve himself of the crime. After SZL left the capital, ML killed him in the name of justice. Spoiler: Does MC know SZL died and who his killer is? Yes. It was MC's brilliant maneuverings that caused SZL's downfall in the end.
Spoiler: MC Sees Wei Yi The latest MTL chapters are more dramatic. The short of it is, Prince Jing Yi (the Empress' son, ML's brother) holds MC hostage in the presence of ML during a rebellion plot. At first ML had already overpowered Prince Jing Yi, but Prince Jing Yi threatened that if ML kills him they won't know the whereabouts of Wei Yi. MC rushes to ask where Wei Yi is, and Prince Jing Yi negotiates for his safe departure from the capital in exchange for Wei Yi's safe return. MC pleads with ML to let him go, and Prince Jing Yi uses their distraction to grab ML's sword and hold MC hostage. Prince Jing Yi with MC approaches the palace gate where a carriage is waiting outside. It's raining. All of a sudden MC hears a familiar voice calling out her name. It's Wei Yi. Prince Jing Yi immediately realises that his plan has failed, and he won't be able to escape with archers surrounding him. So he gives up on his desire to survive, stabs MC, and she falls to the ground. She vaguely hears and sees Wei Yi shouting her name and running towards her. But ML reaches her first, lifts her up into his embrace and calls out her name before she loses consciousness.
Spoiler: What happens to MC's family? Father: Ji Shulian - Dies from shame while kneeling in front of a Buddha statue inside the ancestral hall of their manor. Eldest Sister: Ji Muqing - Gets her own revenge when she kills Prince Jing Yi's concubine, the Empress is banished to the cold palace and later poisoned to death, and Prince Jing Yi fails in his rebellion plot. Becomes insane. Imprisoned but released not long after. Second Sister: Ji Wanxin - Imprisoned but released not long after due to her poor health. Marriage agreement with her fiance is withdrawn. Elder Brother: Ji Huan - Banished to the border for a month to deal with the barbarians. Succeeds and returns to the capital, but feels overwhelmed after finding out what had befallen his family. Younger Brother: Ji Li - Stripped of his position, then later executed. MC had been set up to be executed too, but thanks to her brilliant maneuverings again, she wasn't the actual person executed. She later re-appears disguised as a eunuch alongside ML, thwarting Prince Jing Yi's rebellion plot. MC and ML couldn't have pulled the whole thing off without absolute trust between them as they weren't able to communicate with each other throughout the time. Unfortunately MC is held hostage and stabbed by Prince Jing Yi afterwards.
an insane person released from prison, it is obviously a bad thing. They should've poisoned him inside the prison.
Spoiler: Wei Yi's Real Identity It's implied that he's part of the Imperial family, but not confirmed and no backstory so far.
There are two chapters that seem to hint at it: Spoiler: Hints About Wei Yi's Origins In a much earlier chapter during the investigation into his parents' murder, MC was the prime suspect. There's a subtle rumour about Wei Yi being an adopted son and that it was arranged by the Imperial family. Due to insufficient time and lack of evidence, MC couldn't go further but was able to exonerate herself in court nevertheless. Hundreds of chapters later when Wei Yi was abducted, there's a subtle hint about his possible connection with the Imperial family.
Spoiler: Ji Wanxin She's basically a good person, concerned about her whole family and the only one who treats MC fairly. Unfortunately, she's been in poor health since childhood and doesn't leave her courtyard often. She liked Ji Pei and then ML, both unrequited, which was the reason she didn't like the marriage arrangement with her fiance. But when a man of noble background offers marriage to a woman who might not be able to bear children due to ill health, she's expected to consider it a blessing even through she's of the same background. At first she sought MC a little more often as an excuse see ML,but didn't pursue it further after he ignored her each time in preference to PDA (public displays of affection) for MC. She later refers to ML as brother-in-law. She was imprisoned for a short time as an accessory to younger brother Ji Li's crime. She didn't do anything wrong per se, more like she was aware about what happened but kept quiet about it. While in prison her fiance withdrew their marriage arrangement. Upon release she went to elder brother Ji Huan's place to explain what happened.
I came back here to see if there's another spoiler after the latest translated's arc Spoiler Yunshu being accused of murdering the Wei couple but reading the latest raw chapter's update about Spoiler the dramatic scene among JYS, JR, and WY I speculate that Spoiler WY might be the hidden prince who later has more potential to be on the same standing as JR both in status and rival of JYS's attention maybe?
Did the ML and MC ever proclaim their love? Did they say the words 'l love you' and all? If so when? I would like some spoilers about it please!
I think if MC ending up with Wei Yi, it isn't so bad. He's simple and she wouldn't have to fight everyone for him, if the hint about his past didn't catch up to him. But it would be hard to live a marriage life with an actual mentally challenged grown man.
I'm curious about MC's scar. How it get healed? I'm sure it her face will be flawless and scarless at the later part of the story, right? Maybe you can help @annkanni thankss!!
So many spoilers I’m lazy to read it all... I’m sorry... so could someone tell me when will MC soften down and return ML love.... reading the current chapter 121 is so heart wrenching....
