I would also love to talk to someone who has the same taste as me I'm waiting for it to be completely translated before binge reading it. Is it worth reading? I recommend one of the novels of this author to my friend and she says she is interested in translating it. Guess I will wait for the translation cuz MTL is a headache
I enjoyed the book. I personally don't think it's as good as the two we just mentioned, but it's definitely worth a read. I read it many months ago and I don't recall the MTL being bad, but someone is translating it now. MTL is definitely a headache, but I have a hard time remembering what happens when you only get a chapter out periodically. I'm also very impatient. I do recall enjoying it better than Greetings Ninth Uncle. That one is good, but I don't know what the fuss is all about. Just my personal opinion. So which book did you recommend to your friend?

The description is exactly the same, right down to the names, so I'm pretty sure it's the same novel. This is such a great discussion, I'm kind of tempted to do an Author Chat thread. Maybe Yuè xià dié yǐng/Butterfly Shadow Beneath the Moon since we've read a couple of her books together?

I read that. I MTL-ed it. I don't recall if I read any translated portions. I would be down for that, as I have read many of her novels. She's also a favorite of mine. She writes so well that all the MTL of her novels are easy to understand.
I'm also recently hang up with this to the point that I even ask some of the readers in here in NU to give me the websites where they read, I just couldn't bear the fact where there was no chapter even after waiting for so long but I really just wanna read it completely cuz I want some sort of closure (yeah,right), it kind of hurts me thinking that the ml might die so I really wanna read it completely
It's the same for me. I just can't wait. Most of the books I am interested in aren't updated regularly by the translators. I don't blame them. It's a lot of work, and it's time consuming.
I keep a spreadsheet that calculates how much longer it will be until something finishes updating, and if it's going to be too long, I MTL it. Every once in a while I go through and update the "most recent chapter" column. There's also an option to search for completed novels on a specific reading list. I just bookmarked a link to that search, so I can see if there are any completed novels on my "waiting for updates" list.
Wow, I admire your patience. Usually, I just skim the MTL to see if it's readable. Then I read all the translated chapters. After those are done, I MTL the rest. (Obviously, this only works with CN novels. I've given up trying to get my hands on KN and JN raws.) There are a few books I MTL-ED, that I might go back and read the translated versions: Jin Wang Dotes on His Lover (I skipped a whole bunch of chapters because the MTL was giving me a headache.) The Crown Prince in the Pendant (because I really like the author, and the plot is pretty unique.) Greetings, Ninth Uncle (only because I don't understand why everyone loves this book so much. I think It's Better to be Dowager Empress and I Became My Ex-husband's Stepmother are much better. Maybe I missed something.) What about you? Any possible re-reads?
I'm actually not that patient - there are more "read" and "started" novels on that list than unread ones. I'll take a look again if either I really enjoyed it and want to read it again, or in order to properly rate it, since I often wait for it to finish translating before rating it.
