Book similar to Desolate Era??

Hi guys, I had been struggling lately to find a novel that's like DE. (Cultivation based + serious (ish) + Daos (or similar))

De is one of my favourite and I'm extremely upset as I can't find similar ones

I have read CD, (reading) LXY which is similar to DE as they are all by IET.

Any recommendations?

TE came our earlier than DE, so not sure if TE is a copy of DE but yeah they both are similar, i haven't finished either :S so can't say for sure, but most people agree that DE is more polished than TE as DE is newer, but doesn't matter DE has shit ending and most probably even TE

 

How's DE ending? I let it stockpile and now only have ~1 volume left to read, but I don't feel like continuing.

 

I was pretty satisfied with DE ending.. Way better conclusion than Swallowed Star and LXY in any case.

any IET really. I stopped reading him a couple years ago because I could see plot lines coming and while he starts off strong with some elements I like (caring for family members, filial piety, etc) he eventually forgets them in the grind to produce more power ups (LXY was a pleasant exception for the first half). But I cannot say that IET is bad in any form, it's just that after you read a few of his books you can tell what he's going to do next. If you like his books, by all means keep reading. Shattered star was interesting at the beginning, that new one on QI was neat (with the sword immortal?) in the beginning.

I only stopped because I could guess the next story arc and that was unpleasant for me. IET is one that I tend to point to and say that he is one of my favorites.

 

Nearly any XianXia would fit your description. Some are better some worse but all of the center around a MC getting stronger.

The better ones come from Er Gen and his newest "A will eternal" is a bit on the trolly side with the awesom BXC and his absolute fear of getting killed. If you want someting serious, try Otherworldy Evil Monarch, Sovereign of the three Realms or Warlock of the Magus world.

Most of the avaible XianXia are a bit... repetetive, where everyone shittalks MC, MC is reincarnated and gets shittalked, MC has some OP memorys and ability but gets shittalked or MC goes on a murderspree and kills half the universe and still gets shittalked.
