I've tried reading novels by filtering tags like 'evil protagonist' and 'ruthless protagonist' but these MCs just don't seem evil enough to me. Most of the time when something evil happens in front of them they just can't control the urge to go deliver 'justice'...bro you're supposed to be evil why are you so worked up about somebody else doing evil as well. What I'm looking for in the MC : He should be ruthless to the bad guys and the good guys, like I don't want him to be bound by morality and want him to look for benefits. Should be intelligent or at least not requiring plot armour to get him out of situations He should have some goal He should be true to his words. Not like "I want to pursue Eternal Life" but when the situation comes where he has to choose between Eternal Life and death while protecting friends or family MC says stuff like "what's the point of Eternal Life without family". No crap like that. Preferably no harem but if there is then it should be casual, like MC didn't really care about them or they are not his weakness. Some MC that I like : Fang Yuan (Reverend Insanity) - the best Leylin Farlier (Warlock of the Magus World) - apathetic protagonist Su Chen (Divine Throne of Primordial Bloodline) - cool-headed, doesn't make decisions based on emotions Han Xiao/Black Star (The Legendary Mechanic) - cool-headed protagonist with a witty personality and cautious nature

Before the thorns taught me their sharp lessons and bled weakness from me I had but one brother, and I loved him well. But those days are gone and what is left of them lies in my mother's womb. Now I have many brothers, quick with knife and sword, and as evil, as you please. We ride this broken empire and loot its corpse. They say these are violent times, the end of days when the dead roam and monsters haunt the night. All that's true enough, but there's something worse out there, in the dark. Much worse. From being a privileged royal child, raised by a loving mother, Jorg Ancrath has become the Prince of Thorns, a charming, immoral boy leading a grim band of outlaws in a series of raids and atrocities. The world is in chaos: violence is rife, nightmares everywhere. Jorg has the ability to master the living and the dead, but there is still one thing that puts a chill in him. Returning to his father's castle Jorg must confront horrors from his childhood and carve himself a future with all hands turned against him. Mark Lawrence's debut novel tells a tale of blood and treachery, magic and brotherhood and paints a compelling and brutal, and sometimes beautiful, picture of an exceptional boy on his journey toward manhood and the throne.
There is a reason Reverend Insanity got banned. I disagree that Fang Yuan is evil, he tried morality and he lost. Your best bet is RoyalRoad.
I'll show you a villain (webnovel) it's quite dark qwq (cannibalism, murder, torture and pretty graphic imo?) Mc is a seasoned killer and gets reincarnated to one of his victims novel. Where it's at right now he doesn't seem to have a set goal but Spoiler: Spoiler ch 50~+ its revealed something is influencing him and his thoughts
