Eh, arc 7 is a bland entertainment circle story. Original MC is a model who is betrayed by Antagonist and his ex-BF, who got together behind his back to ruin is career and reputation. New MC stages a comeback, hooks up with a big corporate boss dude (ML), crushes Antagonist in a live-broadcast competition, reveals the ugly activities of his enemies to the public, and turns public opinion against them. I've probably seen half a dozen quick transmigration story arcs that follow this same plot. For arc 9, I've read it several times but the setting still makes zero sense to me. *shrug*
The one with real/artificial mermaids, where the former can apparently control weather... and are precious commodities on land... for some reason? Eh.
Oh, the protag!ML is the human prince that host!MC is supposed to marry. But story!protag is the son of a pirate and has been inlove with protag!ML since young. So he and his father’s band of pirates intercept the ship that was escorting host!MC from the mermaid kingdom to the country. Before disposing of host!MC body, pirate father rip out a pearl(?)/jewel from host!MC body and let story!protag have it so he can have power to control weather like pure blood mermaid, then they throw host!MC body into the ocean.

The thing I don't get is... they're mermaids right? Even artificial mermaids are supposed to be something like prized concubines or something. But...this is not an underwater kingdom or a future setting; it's a medieval land-bound kingdom that has to worry about droughts (true mermaids being able to summon rain being the major reason for the arranged marriage). So...what's the big deal about artificial mermaids? I mean, if they get legs on land, then what's the whole point of them being "mermaids"? Maybe I just don't get this kink. Eh, MC survives being tossed overboard b/c he's a true mermaid and can't die in the sea. However he was also poisoned by the pirates, and the poison affected his appearance. So when he recovered a little and went to the prince he was supposed to marry, the prince didn't believe him. Antagonist had already used the pearl taken from MC's body to call rain and pretend to be the true mermaid that was arranged to marry the prince, and he had his lackeys arrest MC and take him to the artificial mermaid auction house. In the auction is when the MC enters the setting, and he uses the system to immediate purge the poison. He was promptly purchased by ML, a nephew(?) of the king who actually has a good claim to the throne himself. Without the poison, MC recovers his appearance and he's able to convince ML of his story. He also uses his natural connection to the pearl to fight for control of it whenever Antagonist is called on to bring rain, causing him to fail. They confront the whole court with MC's claims again, and MC is able to prove his claim by calling his pearl over and absorbing it. The king is already on his deathbed, but still wants MC to marry the prince because having a true mermaid wife is apparently a requirement to secure the throne. However, ML says that's a little too late cuz MC is already pregnant with his baby. The king dies from sheer outrage, ML becomes king, and Antagonist spends the rest of his life in the dungeons being occasionally tortured by the ex-prince.
Artificial mermaids are originally human who have surgery to become mermaid cuz they look pretty. Also, pure blood mermaid can use magic and get pregnant
...Which I can swallow from an advanced tech future setting or a pure underwater setting. But a medieval era land-bound setting that hasn't even invented irrigation yet, and where the magic comes from the actual mermaids and not the humans? Eh. Still makes no sense.
it's not very medieval setting, it's more european fantasy setting with no real detail to time period. we do know that they have very big bathtubs, so modern facilities is mentioned. and the artificial mermaids and mermaids in general only get their tail, when they're wet, so the only way to distinguish is their pretty faces. so they are human most of the time. and bc the birth rate is low, many rich men buy an artificial mermaid to play with.
About the magic, pure blood mermaids are born with the magic jewel inside their body, that’s how they and the story!protag can use magic
