Casino question

Hi. I would like to ask if anyone here has experience going to a casino.

So I'm writing a part where the MC goes to a Casino.
His goal is to earn 400k in 3 days.

Spoiler: his powers

His power is omniscient and has friggin high luck.

So technically he can win Baccarat, for example, easily.
Is it logical/possible to win that amount with just a 1 or 2k buy in?

 

if he has pure luck that lets him win every time. he can get 400k in a day if he keeps upping the stake.

the issue is that he will be monitored and checked for possible cheating. probably.

 

It is logical if he keeps winning. Playing at tables generally doubles the cash put in each round. So, just put in more money each round. 1k becomes 2k becomes 4K, and so on.

Problem is that is suspicious af and the casino would probably suspect him of cheating. Best way of going about it is some wins and some losses mixed together, with more wins at the same bet. Then, move to another table with a different game and start at a slightly higher bet until 400k is broken.

Also, this task would only take one night with high luck and omniscience. However, splitting up between several nights would cut down suspicion, especially if there's more than one casino that can be visited.

 

$10 on a single roulette number and letting it ride to 3 consecutive wins would do the job, considering you've apparently made him god.

casinos have their own network. so going from one casino to the other to avoid suspicion is even more suspicious to them.

even more obvious sign of cheating. better keep a straight win. and stick to one game.

 

So it's not like something that is impossible right? Cause personally I would like to write something that is logical and possible scenarios that can happen in real life even though its fiction. Thank you! Now i can continue writing =D

 

Gambling isn't for the greedy.

 

Indeed, gotta control your urges or you lose everything. One good win doesn't mean it'll happen again. It means you should stop while your ahead.

I'm with this guy. Seems like roulette is the way to go. If your luck stat is high enough, you could clean out a casino in a couple plays assuming you continue betting all your winnings. Just a few consecutive wins on the lowest bet of black or red would have you making a ton of money after 10 plays.

 

Wouldn't want to win so much in the first try. Our MC is just a young adult who doesn't want trouble with the rich people, yet.

 

Splitting tables doesn't work it's easier to split casinos. The security in modern casinos are very stringent. Once you're recognized the security has your face in the system and they will be tracking your winning even if you go to another table.

 

Heh. While being able to win like that is definitely possible, I'd be the sort to want to try to make money in other ways. Loan sharking, for example. ^.~

 

If he is really lucky, all he need to do is play slot machine. 1 spin hit jackpot can easily win over 400k, in fact over millions.

For inspiration & to understand better stuff like that, search online for 'casino rules and regulations'. There are few mangas, movies and books about gambling. I can name two mangas: Akagi, Usogui; there are more and there's even a book written by Jack London (?) about a man that specullated an roullete that ... search for the book and read it.

Now, if you want to write a story about gambling.. be careful at the perspectives - from what perspective is that novel written - first/third point of view, what implication could there be, if we're talking about legal/illegal gamblings and so on.

There's a story on SOL, Deja Vu Ascendancy, about a guy at one point who uses telekinesis to manipulate the ball in roulette. Does that cause a shit storm!
The story very carefully navigates the research and rules involved in high stakes gambling. Most casinos in the US do no have such high stakes gambling anymore, you can only do many, numerous, small gambles to build up cash like in these types of stories.

It's best if the gambling is in pure luck/skill gambling like poker, where the gains can be attributed to fault of the other players and not the infallible house.That way there's less suspicion.

Also, at least in US casinos, you can/will get kicked out or banned from the gambling venue at casinos if you win too much. (You could still enjoy the luxurious amenities).
