How do you guys feel about cavities? In books/manga/anime/other things there is the common cliche of having a toothache and eating lots of sweets meaning you have a cavity. Personally, I've had a lot of cavities. I'm not proud of that... Out of all the cavities I've had, I've never noticed any strange pain or toothaches. I only knew I had a cavity after getting x-rays during visits to the dentist. They're not small cavities either; I got a root canal done on one of them. How about you guys? Have you ever noticed a cavity from toothache/other mouth pain?
o.o all of them? No wait, you mean your child teeth that all fall out normally before your adult teeth grow in? Curse you and your good dental hygiene...
You know you've got to have root canal or some form of extraction when it starts hurting bad, but either only the weak feel pain!
It depends how bad the cavity is, a bad cavity can damage the nerve inside the tooth leading to you experiencing nerve pain. I had that a month ago, my entire right side of my face felt like it was on fire, and the pain spread through the nerve into my ear and head. I spent an entire night writhing in pain, it was amazing. -_-
Yeah, I've had some toothaches after dentist appointments, but never from cavities themselves. They suck and theres not really a good way to make them stop hurting other than waiting. Ouch, that sounds terrible. Curse you injuries that don't naturally recover >.>
ye when i was a kid i had tons of cavities while i barely ate sweets and brushed my teeth twice a day then when i stoppped brushing mly teeth 4 years ago i stoppped having any cavities while ive been eating 10 times more candy...
... I have them. I need to go to the dentist, but my insurance doesn't cover much at all. I havn't changed the way I take care of my teeth, but for some reason, my cavities are quickly getting worse. I'm trying to take better care of them (out of fear) and eat/drink less sugary things. Could it be some missing vitamin...? I've been eating less healthy for the past year, and skipping meals often.
If it's just a minor cavity there's usually no pain. It has to get into the tooth a decent amount in before it starts to get sensitive and painful. You should really get it looked at by then. If you have pain and it disappears don't assume it healed. Could be necrosis of the nerve tissue.
I'm an adult, that means i cam eat all the candy and sweets that i want and know how to take care of my teeth. Plus never had any cavities growing up and probably never will.
I had a tooth pulled. Minor pain before that but the tooth had died and wasn't worth repairing. Feel the same amount of pain on teeth that show up good on x-ray. *shrug*
One time I had one of those pulsating toothaches, where the pain comes in throbs instead of being constant, and I ignored it for months on end until the point where it just became background-pain. I didn't even notice it unless I really payed attention to it. Needless to say ignoring a toothache wasn't my brightest idea, as I had to get a root canal because of it.
