Horton sounds like it could be a first name. Smith John is also first and last name combination that happens. My take is that if Smith John can exist, then there’s no reason Horton Ai-chan can’t exist.
Thiona is thio which is sulphur.... Xanthe is yellowish Yang coz I have been watching a lot of rwby celeste coz space and stars Aura coz idk Also victoria - europe? and Alice coz somehow alice fits blonde Aura was maybe gold? Maybe sun based name? Maybe name after a spice like turmeric/haldi (it literally screams yellow to me)
Yang is name of one of the four main characters. She stands for the y/yellow in rwby. As for the meaning I dunno, but now that I think about it yang xiao long (her full name) is probably literally "little sun dragon" which kinda matches her personality. There is another character that has a yellow colour based name too, Jaune which I think is yellow in french(maybe? not sure). But he is male so eh. Also yang does match the desc except for super rule following. Blonde/yellow and boobies
The names of all the characters on Ruby’s team are a color reference. Ruby=red Yang=yellow Blake=black Weiss=white Yang, if it means sun, could be an allusion to the sun’s color
Indeed there was world building around why colour based names too in season 4 (or maybe 3) Lots of chars follow other naming patterns too tho like qrow and raven are named after birds, summer and winter after seasons etc
No, more like, this was openly stated. Also in the introduction videos, Yang’s trailor is titled yellow. Ah, by the way, Jaune’s team is composed of warriors who have cross dressed~
If you are trying not to have the first name match the last name, you are exercising in futility. Even George is a last name: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_(surname)
I usually like to combine short name with long surname or vice verse, e.g: Estella Elmendorf Ermenegildo Lima, etc. I think that way you give the name one specific ring to it, that is very pleasant when pronounced. Also, i like to tweak already existing names: Elliver - Gulliver Alienor - Elinor. I noticed that names usually sound better in your mind, than when pronounced out loud, so you can try say them several times and tweak them till they sound right. Also, creating nicely sounding names is very difficult in my opinion (it's not impossible) that's why i'm trying not to do it much. Instead, i have sometime like a hobby, searching for a very rare, but nice names. Saoirse, Faoiltiarna, Starhenberg. But my passion is the ship names. ;D Caernarvon, Countess de Monsoro, A. I. Solzhenitsyn, Canum Venaticorum Something like that. ;D
I think it's more important to have consistency in the names. If you are going for Scandinavian names then all the people in a region should have the same Scandinavian names instead of switching between Celtic, Scandinavian etc
I just go to 20000-names to get some names for mine since it gives you meanings and myths & legends about it as it has a collection of names all over the world. Could also use it as a frame of references for names if you're going to mix it up like what the others peeps said on this thread.
I generally use name generators and pick names that i like the sound of. Though that doesnt make it that much easier for me XD Depends on you, Ai Chan, and the feel of the story.
