I see. There have been a few CN where the wording has been quite strong. I usually put it down to a Writer trying to subconsciously promote his country but some have been downright outspoken. History does run deep in countries with centuries of conflict between them:)

Not really. While there has been conflict between China and the US, it's not something that most Chinese people would take personally. Most of the ire comes across as a direct tit-for-tat based on very current events. Which is also a good description of most of the aggression of Chinese netizens and what not. They generally aren't going to care about countries like Vietnam or Philippines unless there is a recent flare up of tensions in the South China Sea. The only exception is Japan where the anger and hatred have never gone away.

Centuries of conflict? Between Japan and China? Between China and the US? Like what? This is hysterical, honestly. :blob_ghost: :blobrofl: That statement is even funnier when you live in Europe. :blobpopcorn_cool:

I haven't seen any official updates regarding the deletion of novels. Just went to Qidian's site and the latest notice they posted was just a maintenance notice, informing users that there's they are doing work on their platform and so some functions will not be available.

No list of authors who are permanently banned or whatever...

I haven't seen any updates regarding the deletion of novels but I am not feeling optimistic.

Because the Chinese government is not just censoring web novels. Very recently, they have also taken 2 popular drama shows off air.

The Investiture of the Gods (2019) and Novoland: Eagle Flag.

    According to this website:

"Of the two, Novoland: Eagle Flag which was supposed to premiere last night (Jun 3) has been postponed to an unknown future release. I don’t know how much of a heads up were provided for the cancellations. I mean, Novoland: Eagle Flag has been on full promotion mode until up to eleventh hour when less than 30 minutes prior to the premiere, news broke that the fantasy drama was not going to air after all."

"Without any warning at all, the finale for Investiture of the Gods never aired. Instead, it was replaced by Young Blood which premiered with zero fanfare and promotion."

Investiture of the Gods is a Chinese classic so I really have no idea why the show got taken off air... They have gotten crazy with the censorship thing. So I am not feeling hopeful that they will reverse their decision to delete web novels.

Now the censorship in China just reminded me of the dictator of feudal society...

China has a history of building a mass grave for books, burning them and burning/killing scholars
    I am not surprised
Besides, these censorship thing has been going on for so long this year that I am starting to wonder what they are hiding
first it was dramas two months ago, now novels...

Making problems out of boredom and leisure doesn't make one a better or intelligent being. It is an illusion of progress. Also, humans aren't anything special that would make them better or worse than monkeys when cardhouse collapses.

Authors by now should have learnt their lessons and have their worked saved to personal cloud account. Last time dancing's whole novel got roasted because of language and he hadn't made any backup.

    Actually I'm not surprised.
When they are blocking even google and FB, this is ok.
Truthfully first time I read some gore and dark novels from CN I was shocked how liberal it was.

guess it was overlooked that time uh?

But the sad part for me is that if no fights are allowed, xianxia, wuxia will be no more (T^T).

I think fighting is still okay, as long as no excessive gore were described.

I thought the government was fine with negative depictions of religion and pre-Communist governments and didn't give a thought to violence at all, but they are known to be very tetchy when it comes to anything sexual.

This... Well, I guess it isn't the most outlandish thing to happen. Perhaps expected even. Either way, I shall press F.
