I think they thought that majority of the people are coming because of the Chinese market, but in reality it is simply free. Heck before Novelupdates I didn't even know there was such a big CN webnovel market. Most came from(me included) the JP translation. I think they overvalued themselves to much.

 

maybe their information gathering is not really thorough?

 

Before reading CD, I had no idea the Xianxia / Xuanhuan / Qihuan etc market even existed. So yeah I think they counted their eggs, before the hatched.

 

They need to hire more competent public speaker and advisor!

Same. I only know about mangas/manhua/webtoon. Then my sister recommended me a chinese novel that's when I found out that there is xanxia/xanhuan/wuxia and all that shite. XD

 

I first found the CD Manwhua, then I read that for a bit, and learned there was a novel. At first I was like, yeah whatever, propably not that enjoyable. Now I've read more novels than I care to admit, and I like a lot more than is reasonable. But this move by Qidian, it baffles me.

 

They gonna loose more chance to touch western market by this rate

Noone'd like that, because while yes, humans are similar, and yes you can generalise opinions, and genres liked. To a specific degree however, it's basically nigh on impossible to do so in a general way. People are individuals, and their likes are also individual.

An example of why they royally f****ed up, is that volarenovels has had multiple translations close down (or intentions to do so in the near future), due to their move. And the angered fans, will turn on Qidian, which doesn't translate to loyal fans.

fact 1 : the chinese official often,if not always tell blatant lies on live camera broadcasted all over the world.no face given to the rest of the world.
fact 2 : legend says,almost every mega-media corp in china is connected/managed or even owned by members of the party..

conclusion : they have no face,they're all members of the party.they will tell lies.and won't give a fuck about any of us.

qidian should've pay ww milions of $ as advertising fee for their efforts endorsing qidians novels to the international stage.
i've been following rwx since i found CD,i thought finaly good literature from china since legend of the condor heroes and that was a long time ago,never heard any news of books from china since the condor heroes..that is untill rwx and CD,so @Qidian do you know what it means?,it means you're not popular and your claim is ridiculous.not to mentioned that i never heard of the brand qidian until CD was translated by rwx so calling them pirate is stupidly ignorant.

i've been around for quite sometime now lightnovels>watched the yen press drama>watched the drama of cn vs jp>novelstranslation>watch more dramas>the birth of NU till today,then suddenly qidian just pop out of nowhere and start screwing everyone.,i always knew that situation like yen press's dmca take down will sooner or later come knocking...but dang it the way qidian do things is just disgusting..
