"Very quickly, the numerous red spirit snakes were all surrounded in a dark blue fog and had arrived in front of Xin Yun. Looking at them from up close, how was this any sort of snake! It was clearly a dragon! And it was not like A Da’s pig dragon, it was the symbol from China- Shenlong!

The Chinese people had always believed themselves to be the descendants of dragons. Dragon’s blood flowed in their veins, and their bodies contained the souls of a dragon. Although nobody knew why this was believed to be the case, seeing the current scene, many people would think deeply about it."

Do Chinese folks truly believe they are the children of Dragons?
What would be the European, American and African people origin then? Descendants of Gods and Devils? ^^

    No, they don’t.
But in the novel maybe that’s what the author wanted. Just go with it.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't. I mean, they themselves have a believed that Chinese were the origin of the Human race or something along the line of China was the beginning of everything or something, so one more won't make a different.

Eh, Shenlong isn't the ancestor of Chinese people. If it's mentioned in a fictitious work, take it at face value, as nothing more than fiction. I've never heard of Chinese people being descended from dragons. Unless if you consider the human form water dragons in Journey to the West having sex with Chinese women and making babies who in turn make more babies with dragon blood.

No, chinese do not think they are descendants of dragons, they think of dragons as rivers...
And no, the yellow emperor was not believed to be able to be able to turn in to a dragon, the dragon you are talking about is probably Huang Long (Yellow dragon) which was believed to had saved the people from drought, via turning into the Huang He (Yellow river) that runs through china, thus yellow is a respected colour.
That folktale is also the basis that dragons are rivers, and probably caused the birth of the azure dragon too, since we all know azure = blue.
    Hope this helped

Just realised what could have caused that misunderstanding.
You see, in ancient china people believed emperors to be dragons.
The Yellow Emperor was believed to ascend the heavens atop a dragon, so that might also be where your misunderstanding came from.

Doesn't that apply to nearly all major religions in the world? :hmm:
By the way, emperors in China do really view themselves as the Son of Heaven, be it for propaganda reason or what back then. It does help them win legitimacy anyway. However, I think it should be noted that there are also plenty of civilizations which kings believe that they are "the chosen one". For one, Egyptian pharaohs believe that they are the sons of Ra, the sun god.
Anyway, I am rather certain that the average Chinese doesn't view themselves as the descendant of a dragon. That is just really chuuni.

Not in the slightest. Claiming that you're descended from a dragon is a good way of getting your head chopped off. It is a privilege that's only extended to the emperor, therefore in doing so, you're claiming that you are the emperor.

Yes, but only in a metaphysical sense. Think of it this way, if it's purely a matter of descent, then the emperor's brothers would also be able to say that they're sons of heaven. That clearly doesn't happen, so it's another Imperial privilege.

It's not to be taken in a literal sense. It's just like when Christians say that they are the children of God, they don't mean that God is literally their dad.

Isn't it more like the Dragons are the sources of everything so... everything is the "descendants of the dragon"?

dragon's offsprin[龙的传人].This sentence can be translated into the inheritor of Chinese culture. The dragon here refers to Chinese culture. China has a long history and is the only country in the four ancient countries that has not been interrupted. . Of course history is always full of controversy. Some people say that both the Mongols and the Manchus have ruled China, so Chinese history has been interrupted. Most historical scholars believe that Chinese culture has not been interrupted because both Mongolians and Manchurians have become Chinese.

it's because the yellow emperor ally was a dragon and he could command it.

later on, when qin won the war and unified china, he started the worshiping of the yellow emperor and named himself the descendant of the dragon.

the era of yellow emperor was almost 3000 BC....

also don't forget the emperor of Zhou, which is the origin/parent of qin and the 6 warring states was said to have come out from the egg of a phoenix. the empress said it and forced all the ministers to "believe" it and it was recorded as such...

correct me if i'm wrong, but according to the bible, aren't all of us created in the image of god, and god addresses us as his children so we're all the children of god?

also in the bible theres no mention of devils or demons. this was artificially added into the bible later on. lucifer was never called satan or the devil in the bible, but a fallen angel. also theres no hell so go ahead and commit sins~

As a Chinese, I don't think I have any relation with a fictional animal. But dragon IS worshipped by Chinese, indeed.
