I don't remember very much, but the novel starts off with this guy who had transmigrated after climbing Everest, built an empire (more or less) in the 'mortal' realm of the new world and was growing old so he had his most talented sons enter some gathering to get scouted and then get him a pill that would advance him to the next realm. Or something like that, any ideas?
