    无论填入多少人命，都难以将那护城河填平 - No matter how many human lives were to be thrown into the moat, it would still be difficult to fill it.

    context: 圣高林城的护城河河水引自一旁的波威河，宽达六十米，深达百米，河水涛涛，无论填入多少人命，都难以将那护城河填平

    No matter how many human lives filled it in, it was hard to imagine that moat would be filled level.
    So basically just a really deep moat I guess.

    The translation is ok, but here's a rough edit:
    Regardless of the many lives thrown in, the moat still seemed like a bottomless pit.
