Personally, I’m fine. Although I can’t say our country’s doing okay. Has something new happened? *goes to check the news*
You made me curious, what exactly are you referring to? (Well I’m not American, nor live there, nor do I read/watch the news)
sounds like you know something i dont and i found it https://messaging-custom-newsletter...4551&user_id=0e3a680d55f6f0ca84e3cf0472898a6d oof. guess its time to check the european news websites again...
If you wanted to get philosophical about it. Much like us, the world is always changing. So the world we knew 10 minutes ago could be the same, or a whole new world. So in essence, I've just accepted that the world can change at any moment. This is why I believe I would be ok with a sudden isekai, or reincarnation. Shit happened, and now I will have to deal with my new reality.
The part about the anti-vaxxers was scary. Makes me really glad that they didn’t exist when the smallpox vaccine was being distributed.
I can now confirm that my idea of not watching news was best. I even listen to the radio in a language I am not proficient in. Honestly it’s partly like burying my head in the sand, I know, but really? Do I really need to know about the mess some politicians are doing somewhere? I know that there is a lot of sadness and cruelty out in the world, but unless I’m prepared to join Doctors Without Borders or something- why put myself through the torture of feeling empathetic and sad every time I read the news. 18 babies left orphaned, from that article... now that’s a real tragedy. As for going outside during the quarantine- the area where I live more people sneaked our to walk in the forests and by the lakes outdoors, not in the cities, mind you, but there was a larger increase of people hiking around here. Technically so long as you keep your distance it’s fine. Don’t touch, don’t kiss, don’t cough, walking is ok, here at least. Plus being outside is good for the immune system... the problem is that so many people live in cities, where a single square meter of grass is precious as gold. In the cities it’s hard to keep physical distance and not breathe each other’s air. But really? Is corona virus the only virus out there? What about flu virus? AIDS? Hepatitis? Cancer? Herpes? All sorts of pneumonia and bacterial infections? How about obesity? Car accidents? Mental disorders, the violent kind? The mothers of those 18 babies did not die from a virus. like that phrase said, I know it was probably said by someone else before, but I remember it from Meet Joe Black: there are only two things certain in life, death and taxes. We will all die, one day, and many people will die of hunger or lack of clean water and medicine before they’ll die of that virus. And next year there will be a new something something somewhere.... it’s good to keep physical distance to prevent the spread of infection or viruses and all that, but if you think about it, the ordinary flu virus still exists after so many years, and people still die from normal flu (or it’s complications) each year. And no one panics. Why? Because people adapt and get used to things. So eventually we will just wear masks and gloves and not shake hands when meeting people, but overall eventually things will get back on track. Why the panic? Everyone dies some day. For instance I will probably die of obesity related heart attack if I don’t stop reading novels and go outside more often. My personal chances of dying faster from being overweight are higher than dying from some virus. Couple of weeks ago a person died 400 meters away from my house from a heart attack. Nothing to do with that virus. Today I heard on the radio someone got into a car accident, I didn’t understand the details, but I do know the word accident on the road. Here they no longer talk about so many number of people dying from corona. Now they are back to talking about car accidents. Do you think that after that vaccine is found and this virus is gone for good, people will stop dying from cars or smoking?
*picks up pitchfork* I'm coming for you! I'm just waiting for trump to say "Fools! It was me, dio all along!" No no don't! The news will leave you screaming... Well i was watching a video about American economy and how it could be crashing and causing a recession. Your economy ia literally in tatters and the government is screaming at each other. I have a very different world view so i don't even know what to reply... Well, glad you're safe anyway.
Thanx. It’s good to have a different world view. I am a generally depressed person on and off for the past 20 years, so it’s good to have a different viewpoint
Uh... actually, being obese seems to be a factor in becoming seriously sick and dying from the virus, rather than just getting the mild symptoms or being asymptomatic.
No i completely understand. I just like to suppress the side of me that thinks lile that. I don't like letting it have discussions... I hope you get better though. Depression is really unpleasant to live with.
