After reading this post I looked at top CN and all of them end at same step - killing gods. Among top 20 only exception I found was The King's Avatar.
Also I would really like to know where did "SYSTEM" came from.

I believe your samples are very limited in scope. It is like reading only Romance novels then concluding that novels are only about people falling in love. Or watching only cheaply made direct-to-video movies and concluding that all movies are of poor production values.

I'm trying to understand what you are trying to say but what you are saying tells more about you than about Chinese and Japanese stories and authors.

I mean, what do you expect from authors that get paid to either write a certain number of words/characters a day, or have light novel as part of their publication genre?

The thing is, even novels like Eragon, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings etc all have things people don't like about them and one of them is one of the most sold book of all time. And you expect the general number of authors doing this kind of writing style to be genuinely free of troupes, cliche's and be completely original? I guess whatever floats your boat buddy.

    Then don't read shit-tier novel.
Try reading… I don't know. Maybe Bungaku Shoujo? Or HakoMari? I kinda like Iris on Rainy Days too. Gekkou is also a nice short story.

If you only read the mainstream one, ofc you will eventually reach such conclusion.

Those types of novel I avoid the most.
That's why I prefer to read novels with good side characters since it don't focus much on MC and the interaction are fun
Rather than reading novels focus only on the MC which would end being repetitive (、._. )、

I probably don't feel the same about this conclusion because I avoid things I don't like. And even if I come across the cliches I don't hate it because I've only read like one or two of said cliches above so I dont get bored of it.

I'm curious which Chinese and Japanese novels you've actually finished reading. Since your conclusions are so stereotypical I'd say you just picked the most popular Chinese novel and the most popular Japanese novel and based it on those. It's just like how Twilight is so badly written yet somehow became a bestseller. Popular doesn't mean quality. Just find books you actually like and read those.

Sorry but I do not even need to read your post to disagree

Is this a Japanese novel or a Chinese novel: https://www.webnovel.com/book/7920706906001505/NEET-Receives-a-Dating-Sim-System ?

With the SFACG novels, the difference between Chinese and Japanese novels become even more blurred

You, my friend, are simply a frog in a well.
I recommend expanding your horizons instead of making conclusions
If you keep an open mind, you might end up discovering something wonderful instead of languishing in mediocrity
    Over and out!
    Peace!

had good laughs reading the comments here

jokes aside its because most of the ones being translated are wish-fulfilment isekai type for jp light (or rather, web) novels. though i dont deny the rising popularity of isekai genre in japan

for chinese novel i'm more or less agree with whats people here are saying, and the only one i currently following is king's avatar. this one is really masterpiece for a chinese webnovel.

also, try korean webnovels. lots of games/reincarnation tropes and full of grinds inside of the story. also wish fulfillments but its enough to let me engaged for now so i'd say its currenlty superior to most recent jp web/light novels

So I agree alot of the things you say are generalizations and I agree with them but I do believe that stems from why writers write either to tell a story they want to write or one the fans once to read. Even American writers have trends just look at amazon how many novels have harems in them these day if u look at the litrpg genre. Just happens so find those u can stand and enjoy while ignoring the others

I loved Strange life of a cat. And other stuff by that author is good too. Though Charcoal is still better. The ending is “I want more” type ending too
