Oh. It kinda looks like a book, I guess. That was the idea.

And I discarded this before because I think it's a bit complex for a logo, but someone said they liked it so i'll post it. So second entry I guess.

The idea behind this one was similar. They're both books. It's not too evident when the BG is the same colour as the 'inside' of the book but that's how it makes the NU. That's the sneaky bit. When you flip the BG you can get 2 books instead like

I didn't bother making one with the word forum in it cause the current one for the forum, doesn't have it either, but if I were to make one, I would just add "F O R U M" underneath it or beside it in the same font style as used in the logo. This logo has been done as if it is meant to replace the current one, so I technically call it a logo, it could just as well be used as a banner, since I am not sure if what we have right now is a logo or banner.

How I got to my logo's final submission:
I had various ideas and sketches at first. Very, very rough sketches when brainstorming.

Even tried it out a bit:

but it was too detailed, so I stopped.

I had a few more, but this one is the most relevant. In the bottom right corner was my latest idea. A very simple one compared to the others, but it appealed the most to me.

It is all hand drawn on my tablet. I asked a few friends what they thought of it and their suggestions and receiving positive feedback, I went with this idea in the end.
I experimented a bit trying various things. One of the results was this one:

I tried different forms too, and then went on to the colouring. I tried working a bit with different textures and so on for the book spines, but it didn't work out so well... ahahaha...

Finally I ended up with this:

This is the same logo with a slightly different font for the letters. I wasn't sure on which one to take at first, but decided on the other one in the end. I also had the idea of removing the "ovel" part from "novel"as shown in the second submission.
