A friend invited me to an anime convention and I need ideas for cosplay.

Is there a character that you like, love or cherish?
If this is your first time. I’d go with something simple.
A lot of cosplayers frown on bought cosplay. They like self made ones, but for your first time. I’d go with a bought one. Believe me it’s not easy. As simple as a wig can be tough with no experience. Personally, I’d ask the friend that’s taking you for advice and also match them. That way you both can enjoy as a set match. Don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t turn out right or perfect. The first couple of times never turn out like you want it. Especially, if you know the character so well and add on your own hang ups. You’ll get depressed. Don’t be. It can be a wonderful experience. I highly recommend it

 

An elf, such as Puck from Berserk or Feel Nilvalen from No Game No Life

 

The problems I face with cosplay. Was my skin color and my body type. I have dark skin. So there aren’t that many characters I like that’s dark skin. I’ve dress as dark elf's and such. I’m 1.8 meters at a weight of 97 kilo. I have muscle and can be a little scary looking. Even thou I’m a teddy bear inside.
As a elf I look good with the clothes, but the ears and wig didn’t fit right. I think I was more critical on myself than I needed to be, but still I’m glad I step out and experience that moment. As I said before I highly recommend doing it

 

I don't think skin colour should be a barrier , gender and body type even less

You might be stared at a bit but I feel that having fun is the most important

I totally agree, but this was me being critical. I love many characters and I wanted to do right by them. So I could do nothing less.
That’s why I never suggested any character. I want the OP to decide what they wanted to do. I mean could say something inappropriate and scare them away. I want them to enjoy this moment. Personally, for me I’m ok with whatever anyone does from cross dressing to some sort of hybrid. The main thing is to find your favorite and do right by the source. That’s all I can say

 

It's true that physical characteristics can make a cosplay look more true to the original

 

Crossdress! Always crossdress!!!!!

 

I once cosplay as Ye Xiu in comicket, with his e-sport jacket and hairstyle, sadly not many recognize it.

There's also time when I cosplay as Nagito Komaeda, and f there's so many Nagito in comicket that i decide to never cosplay as popular anime character ever again.

 

Is there any characters you like specifically? I would just go look into characters that you like and check for cosplays on them. Cosplays from genshin impact are nice but hella expensive.
