It was announced back at the end of last year that we'll be getting 4 new books in the Twelve Kingdoms series!! They just unveiled the covers for the first two books and I am so excited!! It's Taiki! And Gyousou! New art from Yamada Akihiro!

Books 1 and 2 will be released October 12, and Books 3 and 4 will be released November 9. The title is Shirogane no Oka, Kuro no Tsuki (according to the official blog post on the website). Eugene Woodbury wrote about the translation of the title here:

I'm pre-ordering the books and I can't wait to read them.

I hope the anime continues as the director refused to until the looks of one of the characters was sorted out.

With the new books, I really do hope there's a continuation of the anime. It's such a good series that it would be a shame if they didn't.

This is great! Twelve Kingdoms is my favorite Japanese light novel and it stands heads and shoulders above any of their webnovels. Even better, it cares about things like characterization, world building, and themes and stuff.

I've only watched the Anime which is one of my all time favorites, I knew about the novels but didn't know there was translation for it. Looks like this is the perfect time to start reading them. Thanks for letting me know!
