Reading comments from the locked chapters and boy... looks like I'm about to face a wave of cliffhangers.

Also the quality of translations seems to be going down a lot lately.

Like names in the wrong place, bad grammar and wrong word usage.

 

yeah I saw a mistranslation recently where the word started the same, but it was a totally different word. i don't even know how that happens.

 

Here's a weird mistranslation from chapter 945

From surrounding context, "kidney" is supposed to be "kidnap".

How does one make this mistake? I'm guessing it's not MTL because it's not a problem with the word choice being correct in denotation but incorrect in connotation. It's just plain wrong.

The words start similar but are totally different in meaning.

Maybe it's human error because Chinese characters are so visual? Maybe the translator is treating English characters the same way as groupings of characters? Maybe they just memorize the groupings. Maybe in their mind "kid" is a grouping and then they accidentally paired it with a second grouping of "ney" instead of "napped"?

This is all my wild speculation.

If anyone actually knows how such weird errors happen, please let me know.

So what's the reason why they still haven't told the truth about Ling Lan? It's not like they have any other choice and delaying it won't be any better either.

From what it sounds like in the culture in the story if she is outed as female it’s possible for her to face severe consequences for it, think like in the movie Mulan where when she was outed as female Shang was going to execute her for lying to/dishonoring the army and only didn’t because she had saved his life. It’s possible Ling Lan would be dishonorably discharged or executed because she knows too many things their government wouldn’t want to possibly fall into enemy hands, and her family could also be caught in it because of being in on the charade.

There would certainly be people in their military that wouldn’t care because of the results she consistently brings and her potential as a mech pilot, but there are also those who would be against her-either because they are obsessed with decorum/honor or her father’s enemies that would use her to try and either control her father or have him removed

 

It's too bad the author is leaving this in what seems to be an indefinite hiatus.


In the meantime, the chance to read Ling Lan x Li Lanfeng is the only fuel moving me forward.

 

She cant even publish her results, there are so many geniuses aside from her yet they made it sound like everybody is out there to kill her if they found out she's a woman or a genius. That shit doesn't make any sense. Besides she's just a student, nobody knows what she knows and nobody would ever find out with the super AI inside her.
