Ling Yi didn't find it out yet so no one can answer you, for the second question I don't think Ling Lan particularity mother him, but he is the only younger recruit of Lingtian with some importance. If I don't remember wrong Li Lanfeng doesn't like him much LOL because Ling Yi went to military accademy after Li Lanfeng graduated they are pretty much stranger to each other, he is a bit jealous that Ling Yi is from the same family of Ling Lan and they are competing to be the number one loyal to the Boss. If I don't remember wrong Ling Yi was used in a plot against Ling Lan but Ling Yi wasn't aware of be used so he is still loyal to Ling Lan for the moment.

 

I want to know if the cat's out of the bag already regarding about Ling Lan being Ling Xiao's one and only heir?

Depend about what do you mean... before chapter 900 all the gang know about it and the military schools since daddy ling xiao couldn't help but to congratulate her when she won a school tournement LOL after 900 many in the military come to know about this fact but the general public know more about the existence of the son of Ling Xiao like a celebrity than really know about Ling Lan identity. If you exclude Xiao 4 no other sinbling sorry.

In a huge battleflied (I don't remember against who, sorry) around chapter 900, she used Belief, the god class Mecha of her father. Ling Xiao had to explain to the military after , isn't like he can give his mecha to just everyone.

She wasn't either god level or emperor level at the time, in fact she was injured pretty badly from the backlash, after Luo Chao and Han shuya learned she was a girl in that moments because they had to take off her bloodied clothes to cure her and they swore secrecy by becoming her fiancees as cover. However she did become emperor level later and in the last chapter of the raw she is is a step away from God level, didn't reach it yet but she is close.

Ling Yi doesn't betray Ling Lan in the future, but he is still used as a tool by Ling Lan's enemies. Namely, one of his little partners turns out to be a god-class hacker that uploaded his memories/talent/consciousness to a new body via the talent copying machine (Refer to This Post on the Talent Copying Machine). If it weren't for Little Four, their plans would've succeeded, but thank goodness the cheat known as Little Four exists. Here's a post I wrote on more elaboration on Ling Yi.

Before I go on with the other answers, I do have to define what Ling Yi's father was and what he was supposed to be (since the QI translator probably didn't elaborate and, no, they're not 'loyalists').

The actual term for what Ling Lan's servants in the Ling Clan is 死士 (sǐ shì). The literal translation of each character is 'dead' and 'specialist'. In the eyes of the world, they do not exist. They have no identity, they have no freedom, they are raised for a sole purpose - to obey their masters. They are literal slaves meant for the sole purpose of doing dirty work and then dying right after. In Crossing to the Future, their existence is obviously a little better off than in most Chinese stories - in fact, their use seems to be expanded to serve the purpose of 暗卫 (àn wèi - shadow guards) as well as family servants (within the clan estate/properties). However, the basics are still there. In the Crossing to the future world, sishi cannot have an identity/reveal their identity, join the military, leave the family estate, have friends, travel (outside of the clan leader's orders), and more.

Honestly, I don't think Ling Lan wants to mother hen Ling Yi, specifically because she knows he's sort of a ticking time bomb. She makes a lot of excuses as to why she doesn't let Ling Yi close to her, but it boils down to she can't trust him. She knows he's innocent, but the fact that he may betray her like his father still hangs there, and his constant wish to remain as her sishi endangers the both of them, as his identity has already been revealed to the world. Not to mention, she can't have him as her sishi anyway bc of her gender/sex issue. He's pretty innocent/guiltless, yeah, but for someone who wants to remain in the position of a sishi, he likely doesn't qualify. Eventually, I can see Ling Lan accepting him, but more as a comrade than something akin to a slave.

Ling Yi doesn't know that his father betrayed the Ling clan yet, but I'm sure if he ever learned the truth, he would feel extreme agony. Up until this point, his life was meant to serve the Ling Clan, and in effect, his father destroyed that route even before he could begin. So that would be akin to spending all these years working hard and suddenly learning that your goal never existed from the start.

Honestly, Ling Lan's ruthlessness is a necessity and the result of several factors. To begin with, when everything happened, Ling Lan was still only 6 years old and had little power outside of the now fragmented Ling Clan (a majority of the clan left Doha, remember, and even then, relationships were strained). If she didn't show a ruthless front, her situation would be much worse. And truthfully, she did show mercy - by not getting rid of Ling Yi. If she really wanted to get rid of all her future dangers, she would have killed him off too, in order to prevent him from joining the enemies or being used as a tool to get to her (which was what happened). He also grew outside of her control, meaning that her ability to trust him would be much lower than with her little partners that she grew up from childhood + at the first men's military school with. And talent-wise, he can barely compare with the least talented of Ling Lan's main little partners. All in all, they're meant to walk different roads, but Ling Yi insists on continuing on a path that he didn't realize never existed in the first place.

It sucks, but in the end, it was his choice. Ling Lan gave him several chances to live a normal life, but he kept walking down this road. Knowing the author, he probably won't suffer too badly and I wouldn't be surprised if he does end up joining Ling Lan's group, but not as her sishi.

I think Deuiche meant piloting-wise. Ling Lan was an imperial class pilot at the time of the cape star war (where she piloted Belief and Luo Chao/Han Xuya found out she was a girl). Otherwise, Ling Xiao wouldn't have given her Belief bc it would be a death sentence even before she could use it. She broke through to imperial in her 4th year in the First Men's Military School (if you remember that extended period where she's in a virtual memory of Mengdola). That's why Ling Xiao had Qi Yaoyang test her when she wanted to make her own battle guild - because the both of them were imperial-class pilots that suppressed their ability to ace-class.

To clarify, as of currently, Ling Lan's martial arts/body arts level is half-step to god officially, but in a false god state due to the Mengdola learning space upgrade. Her ability to exhibit god-class martial arts is due to Mentor No. 1 using her body to channel his power (like how no. 5 and 9 did during the assassination attempt in Doha Scout Academy). She has also shown to be able to channel Mentor No. 3 for an extended period of time to pilot at god-class level.

sdghsdf the angel/yuki onna/fairy/saint/hell i don't know this is actually very xianxia despite the not very xianxia setting is just kind of confusing bc while it's pretty convenient to have two power levels that share similar terminology to show the similar power levels...it still gets pretty confusing. But honestly it's better than some of the stuff I've read where there's a need to assign power levels to everything....

Btw in the last chapter of raws how old is Ling Lan?

 

She should be around 26-27ish (26 when she arrived at the disorderly zone). I believe they may have passed around a year there though? So the more accurate answer would be 27 (but sometimes madame Ru forgets how much time has passed during her writing)

I have been reading raw chapters...I thinks it's a round 470 or something, ling lan and groups (Qiao ting, Zhao Jun etc)winning the group mecha competition (i think, cos it's really heard understanding mtl)..

I've mostly read your replies and I would like to ask about Ling Xiao.
I'm at the 'World Wars' arc. The aftermath being that Ling Lan was missing, ya? So I'm mostly confused about Ling Xiao's part.
Physically-wise, he's dead, no? I'm quite confused. I would like to assume that he's not physically dead, that would be sad and disappointing if he is. Also, is he still the Super Mega Flial Daddy Ling Xiao. Or is he now somewhat twisted because of swallowing that LongXiang head's spiritual something? TBH, I'm generally confuse about everything on LX at this point. I've been trying hard to understand the raws and I got the gist of it but seriously, who can with google TL?

 

@somnious already explain what happen to LX in previous posts. iirc LX is physically dead thats why LL want to find materials to make a body not just for LX also for the instructors & the comrade who sacrificed himself (i forgot his name).

 

The part you specifically took out explains some of the resource distribution regulations of the the final part of the mecha competition - the grand mecha melee battle. At this point, Ling Lan hasn't taken complete control as Commander of her team; she succeeds during the resource distribution. The battleground for the grand mecha melee battle is in a different location than the competitions that were happening up until that point (since it's on an actual battleground).

A rough translation is:

The 'lottery' beforehand was for the sake of drawing tickets to decide where each school's base is. After each 'commander' (whoever's the leader of the school on paper) has pulled from the box, a brief map is displayed with all of the numbers on it (I don't remember if the map shows which number is actually a base or not).

In the events after, Ling Lan successfully obtains the true right to be the commander of the team.

And while Ling Lan doesn't show off her true power (well she does, kind of, Ling Xiao is actually one of the judges and he manages to cover her ass), there are quite a lot of interesting things that happen in this arc. This arc also reinstalls a kind of danger in Qiao Ting because he realizes that, while Ling Lan is the 'son of a god-class mecha pilot', her commanding skills are cream of the crop and top notch. So even if she doesn't become a true mecha pilot powerhouse, she may eventually become one of the top brass (in Qiao Ting's mind).

I don't blame you. A major reason why you're probably getting confused is because the 'World Wars' arc accumulates almost all of the plot points into one place for the first time while throwing even more at you while you're at it - which makes it hard to understand if you're machine translating. If anything, Madame Ru is very good at setting up the plot (though of course, romance seems to be her crippling Achilles tendon...).

I did write about Ling Xiao's current situation before, so I've linked the post in this reply. You can read about it here! In it, I elaborated all of what I think are the key points relating to Ling Xiao as of now. There's currently still a lot of underlying plot stuff that the author hasn't clearly revealed, mainly linked to all of the repeating families that appear in the story so far, but at least Ling Xiao's condition should be (mostly?) clear. Knowing how soft hearted Madame Ru is, I don't really think we need to worry too hard about Ling Xiao's final outcome (although that chapter is horribly dramatic to the point that everyone in the QQ chat were throwing knives at our pitiful wife u_u).
