    Many forget that equality means allowing inequality.
    Some people are just more skilled.
    Feminist movement started because women were not allowed to vote not because it wasn't 50-50.
    If women are more skilled at a job it will be more skewered towards women, expecting 50-50 is stupid.
    That's why I like the author of Moteki and also the editor who has the author use a male pen name. When she got popular she revealed she was actually female.
    Oh well, even a good thing can become harmful if used improperly

    I really do get tired of most the commentors who get upset at every thing... I can see why some people are upset with how they’re moneys spent but you never expected all of it to goto the creators and tranlators of anime did you, it’s a business. They’re obviously paying the people the same amount as before and just using some of the left over money to work on they’re own project. So what’s it’s written by women, they hired who they wanted to like every other company ever. And if your upset about diversity or how it’s not anime that’s your own problem cause they never claimed it was. They simply said they wanted to try something new with they’re own money that they’ve earned. But if your offended by a mere making of video and not even a trailer this show was not made for you at all.

    Sure, the quality of the work will speak for itself but in these current times how something is marketed, especially before the actual work itself can be judged, can play a large part in success or failure. The flaw here with crunchyroll is that they basically hoisted a bait flag by waving around their 'diversity' and 'inclusiveness' to their market which basically doesnt give two shets and dislikes anything smelling of SJW quackery. I think that its quite possible that crunchyroll sub number could go down as people cancel in protest.
    Then again, crunchyroll wouldnt be the first company to screw around their customer base to kowtow and kiss hindquarters for the idiot activists.

    I totally agree but then that's the unfortunate path things have taken when the activists have no sense of reality or what equality realistically means. Then again, most activists seeking equality these days are either off in lala land dreaming of a utopia or socialist lovers dream of a 'great socialist dream where everyone is 100% same and equal'

    I agree first impression is very important. It’s the first deal breaker. I also agree they created a deadly flag. But I still stand by what I said. You can’t judge a book by its cover. The work on the screen is all that matters in the end. But that’s not to say I will not be scrutinizing every detail a lot finer then I usually would. I have high expectations.

    "Anime" is short for animations, which means basically everything.
    In japan there is almost no distinction between cartoons and animes, because they are basically the same thing.

    Of course, we do have a distinction over here, but because of how diverse the animes that come out are, the term has become a bit... wonky to say the least.

    Describing anime as: Japanese animations; no longer fills every gap.

    There was a really nice youtube video, explaining how anime the way we mean it, is what we call an artistic movement, that bears the familiar characteristics. It can be from whatever country it wants, made from whomever made it and escape the questioning of wether it's an anime or not, when it basically fits the role.

    Soooo yeah...

    I has been growing up with re-aired animation of 90 or early 2000
    Watching Bugs Bunny for half an hour then dragon ball next, then follow up with other anime or cartoon being dubbed

    My morning weekend childhood being showered with a mix match of animation from Japan and American.

    For me anime is Japanese thing and cartoon is western is what I had grow up with.

    For some reason, this line make me feel old...

    i grew up in similar times, back when anime outside of japan was probably a much smaller thing than it is now. I didnt even really know Pokemon was actually anime til i first got into anime.

    anime = japanese
    cartoons = western
    I grew up with that belief as well. Now, we're in times where the line is so blurred that it's harder to describe and label clearly (like the 'is RWBY anime?' debate)

    The problem with that video is that the idea of anime being an artistic movement doesn't work, that wouldn't exclude just western cartoons but also a lot of shows that people do consider anime, because artistic movements are too narrow in scope.

    Did anyone else wonder what Link is doing crossdressing as a girl in an anime?

    Perhaps it's one of the reasons of the general hate
