I do have one anime where it jus reaks of BROMANCE. I think the author/creator was teasing us, and possibly hinting to shounen-ai. Anime: elegant youkai apartment life. The anime 26 episodes. It fairly new anime. I hope we get season two. But this is what I’d recommend to anyone who isn’t that into yaoi, but is OK with with shounen-ai. Beware: this anime might make you cry. It really brings up great topics, and lessons. It’s a slice of life anime so it’s slow, but not too slow. Ships: I can’t pick between (daddy)Hase X Yuushi and Aoki-sensei X Yuushi. Hase is Yuushi’s childhood friend. Spoiler Aoki appears in the second half of the anime. Idk if this is spoler or not.
Can you tell us a little bit about the plot My fav stories have something to do with lots of people living together
Okay. Plot: Our protagonist Yuushi lost his parents and now lives with his uncle and aunt. Living with his relatives didn’t feel right to him. His cousin didn’t really like him much. She was jelous that her parents gave him attention, and a lot of things. I think he was pressured by her, and didn’t feel right. He was really sad and depressed, and had a lot of angst. This all happened in his last year in middl school. So He then goes to a highschool, and decides to live in the dorms. The dorms had an accident, and he couldn’t live there. So he went on and tried to find an apartment to live in. He found one, but later finds out that apartment houses youkai. This is my summary, idk it’s not the best. But the show is really good. Definitely recommend to watch it.
So I was going to read mtl about a teenage demon clan leader who ran down the mountain to play. Sounds like an adventure, right? Until I read this note: Spoiler This is a seemingly serious ... ... White dog blood Lei Man, a subject six attack, no exercise, father and son haunt, the process of NP, the outcome of 1v1, CP uncertain , Crazy change, protagonist cruel, ending pit father I had to share this, because that is one of the most off putting notes I've seen on a danmei series. Spoiler Double dare you to mtl read this! Of course, I'm not included @LaDyViL @alexfilia @ayshadow @ludagad @viuos @Kailyria20 @Rilise @Ichigocheesecake @lalaly @kiara8 @Kosu @mereumsama I got this on hold after downloading a few episodes but the anime seemed pretty popular at the time of simulcast.
what does it mean ending pit father? And its NP but with the outcome of 1v1 couple also do I sense incest?
Gravity Tales Dictionary says Pit Father is "chinese internet slang that means this is too unbelivable it must be a lie/too awesome, so awesome I can’t bear it, this can’t be for real” etc" In my experience, it's never a good thing when mentioned with bl. It does sound like it suggests incest. Not clear if it ends with incest though. Apparently it deceives you by being written as harem, ending up 1v1, but then changing the male lead towards the end again(x amount of times not clarified but it sounds like it could be more than once), faking serious plot, angst and conflict(not sure about the white lei man part, ), and also unsure if no excercise means no sex but. . .100% sure it's describing mc as an asshole.
hi i'm a newcomer sorry for repetitive intro I love danmei novel my favourite novels are Feng yu jiu tian (feng noh), Till death do us part & Living to Suffer (Tang Story), Love Late (Lan Lin), Will you still love me even if i'm a man (angelina),Waiting for you online, Beloved Marriage in high society, Counter Attack Lving the rival (CJD), Beloved Enemy, Agreement of being gay for 30 days, Tangent, The Pregnant Woman Next Door,He is His excelency Zhi Li (angelina)
B-but my raw links are already copied on my clipboard I promise I'm not cheating you or using the Danmei Room as a book shield Spoiler *crosses fingers* Seriously though, very few Danmei novel descriptions make me do a double take like this one. Even smut doesn't make me blush anymore.
Hi guys, sorry to pop-in the middle of your conversation, but I was looking for some recommendations. I really liked The Legendary Master's Wife and I was wondering if there are any more lengthy novels that are light on the sexual aspect of it and are more subtle-romance focused? I'll take any recommendations, even stuff from outside NU. Fanfictions are cool too (as long as they're decently written). Thanks in advance!
If what you liked is that the story has a lot of content/adventure/activity with some nice romance on the side, then I really recommend this story called Outlands! http://maldoror-gw.livejournal.com/83190.html It's an original fiction written by an author who seems to be a historical buff. It's about a Japanese man who discovers a strange soldier from a now-nonexistent country (Assyria), and who gets pulled into a strange place between dimensions where remnants of ancient civilizations and fragments of the modern world collide. It has some absolutely amazing worldbuilding and even though it uses all sorts of societies that actually did exist in the world's past, the way they all mix together is very fantastical and otherwordly. Anyway, it's a full book read and is complete. There's an incomplete book 2 as well. Wow, and I just remembered reading so many long fantasy slash stories back on fictionpress several years ago lol. Well, if you don't mind Western-written BL then there's also this very cute fantasy magic series that starts with a story called The Wizard of Bright Isle. It's about a young boy who discovers he's a wizard, goes to live in a tower at the capital to study magic, and ends up saving the prince's life and becoming pretty much the most powerful wizard around. Well, it's actually very romance-focused, but there's a lot of plot content with conspiracies, worldbuilding, etc. The way it's written is quite light though, so it's a nice and easy read with enough tension to make it interesting. The series has several completed stories spanning from childhood to adulthood, then continuing with the stories of the children. I really enjoyed it. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2313796/1/The-Wizard-of-Bright-Isle Also, if you've ever wanted to read some really intense and detailed military/magic stories set in a modern world, there was this absolutely amazing Merlin fanfic series called Loaded March with sixteen books that start off at 30,000 words (novella length) and end up becoming over 150,000 words at the end (the biggest Harry Potter book had 200,000). It's literally an epic. Everyone from the King Arthur myths reincarnated into the modern world and were all reunited as part of an elite specialized force in the British army. They don't remember their past lives, but when strange and unnatural events begin to unfold, Arthur's circle of knights/soldiers along with his right hand man/comm specialist/secret wizard Merlin are the only people with the skills/knowledge able to protect this modern world that is incapable of comprehending, let alone standing up against, the ancient magics now arising. I actually downloaded the entire series just in case the author ever took it down hahaha. https://archiveofourown.org/works/234459 As for novelupdates works... The longest one other than LMW is Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil which is an absolutely great fast-paced read. If you're into danmei then it's pretty much a given that you've read it before but if not then of course gotta plug it!! https://www.novelupdates.com/series/quickly-wear-the-face-of-the-devil/
I hope you enjoy them! back before I found out about NU I basically scoured all of fictionpress and livejournal for good BL stories hahaha. It was like digging for gold... There were a few more stories and authors I really liked that I'll try to post later for anyone who doesn't mind reading western BL ╰(*´︶`*) (<- Also I just found out that the Japanese keyboard on phone comes with some preset Japanese emoticons whoa!!) Because of my preferences they're all fantasy, or magic, or supernatural stories hahaha...
coughs coughs and leaves this here https://www.novelupdates.com/series/how-to-thank-you-for-saving-me/ *runs away from the shonen ai adult smut tags >.>*
Thank you very much for the suggestions! I'm a history buff myself so the first story sounds quite appealing. I'll be sure to try and read it responsibly instead of binging through it when I have university assignments to do, haha. And yeah I've read Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil and loved it (although it's a bit fast paced for me). Thanks again for your suggestions!
Heya anyone else excited for the founder of diabolism anime?? (Or know any news about it?) I was so excited when i saw it was gonna be released summer 2018 until i remembered i live in the southern hemisphere ヽ(`Д´)ノ
I am SUPER psyched for your recs. ;DD Fantasy + magic + supernatural + it's like you're reading my miiiind. I used to do the exact same thing for slash. I gave up after a while and returned to just fanfiction though because it was sooo hard to weed through EVERYTHING on fp to find the gems. TT_TT Same with lj, though multiply the difficulty by like 100.
坑爹 - kēng diē (lit. pit father) - dishonest, fraudulent, deceptive That might be the internet slang dictionary meaning of pit father, but (as with all slang) it's 100% context dependent. In the story I'm translating, I mostly translate it is "that fucking (something/someone)" but it can mean anything from "that lying S.O.B." to something much more mild like "unexpectedly annoying."
Yeees exactly ;w; In the end I basically just tried to zoom in on authors that I really liked and then stalked whatever they liked lol. Or visiting their personal sites to find their recs... hahahaha. And yeah!!! I agree, nowadays so many amazing writers have popped up in the fanfiction world, and with how many creative AUs there are and how easy it is to find recs it just isn't worth it to go digging on fp or lj... Well, now that I'm remembering some other stories I'll start reccing them here! My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE story is Sacrifices by Rachel Lynn. It's a 12k oneshot about a boy, Tam, who has been raised as a sacrifice for his clan, and after his death he wakes up in someone else's body in another part of the world. The person his body belonged to was an outcast but Tam quietly learns how to fit into this new society and, using knowledge from his past life, save his new tribe. The romance was so sweet as well. I could gush about the ML but it's such an integral part of the story that I won't spoil it! And after reading so many CNs, I now realize that this is actually a fantasy transmigration story! How cool is that! Everything about this story has stayed with me ever since I first read it eight years ago; for some reason everything about the premise, protagonist, setting, and plot all mixed together into an absolutely beautiful memory for me. I'm so so happy to see that it's still up. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2055356/1/Sacrifices And ANOTHER of my favorites from the same author under a different pen name is Of Wolves and Witches! It's a 9k oneshot but it's packed full of worldbuilding and interesting characters and is perfectly paced, so it feels like a full and complete story. I also remember this one very vividly hahaha. It's about the youngest prince of a tyrannical kingdom who gets sent off to the snowy barren lands to 'subdue the barbarians' by his older brother. The youngest prince Henry isn't really interested in fighting, and in fact would just rather live a very simple life without worrying about anything, but the ancient magics of the land and that strange and handsome Lord Wolf sure do make that difficult. It's sooo fluffy and cute with some nice plot twists and surprises. Also, I'm happily surprised to see that even after all these years the writing is just as good if not better than I remembered! So full of personality! https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2136394/1/Of-Wolves-and-Witches One of the other stories I remember well is White Stag by Qui on fictionpress. It's a magic/fantasy novella. A prince went chasing after a white stag while on a hunt, and after getting separated he broke his leg. A wizard found him and decided to nurse the prince back to health in his cabin. They fall in love, but when the prince has to return to the castle, a plot against the throne and the strange behavior of the prince forces the wizard to go in search for him. Though it's a short book (40k words) it managed to create a very interesting and vivid little world, and I loved to read it when I was craving a light romance with lots of interesting magic. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2463495/1/White-Stag Also, the author Qui has a LOT of stories on fp. If you like smut *cough* then The Book of Myth is probably the thing for you. Another prolific fp author is Tygati, who does tons of fantasy and sci-fi stuff. Most are oneshots/loosely connected shorts, but there are some book-length stories as well. Breaking Protocol and the sequel Courting the Ice Princess are both good space opera sci-fi with some witty characters and good worldbuilding (If you're not familiar with space opera - think the Mass Effect games, or the TV shows Firefly, Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. Basically, spaceships and space and aliens and super hi-tech stuff). The first story is about a by-the-books spaceship officer getting thrown into a situation where he has to rely on a strange and very unconventional man to resolve it. Sparks fly between them as the two opposites learn that sometimes you have to make use of a different way of thinking to get the job done. What I really like about this one is that both leads are hypercompetent and strong, and they both develop while egging each other on. The two of them are very complementary. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2316754/1/Breaking-Protocol There is also Darkness, which is a super fluffy story about a Demon Hunter who goes to fight to his death at the Demon Lord's Castle, but what he finds there is not what he was expecting. Similar vibe to Asian fluff stories, very cute. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2283796/1/Darkness with more stories (including NC17 and a part by maderr) on https://tygati.dreamwidth.org/358997.html Others that I rec from this author: Spoiler [Fantasy] The Azure: A young man has dreamed his whole life of sailing on the legendary ship, the Azure. When he finally gets his chance... things are a little different than he expected. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2283792/1/The-Azure [SciFi] Space Gremlins: Spark is constantly at odds with his overbearing captain. On a particular mission he finally puts his foot down... and the defiance leads to unexpected results. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2316741/1/Space-Gremlins [SciFi] A Shared Obsession: Kidnapped universe. Zanson has an obsession. His obsession is a space explorer named Yaral'nkoma. For years he's watched Yaral from afar, never daring to take the risk. What he doesn't know is that Yaral has an obsession too...(NOTE: both of the characters here are aliens) https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2404550/1/A-Shared-Obsession [Fantasy] The Dragon Isles: Far to the east lie the mysterious Dragon Isles none have seen the creatures they are named for in so long that their existence is now naught but myth. A young man fleeing for his life reaches the Dragon Isles and what he finds will change his world. (Long story! Over 50k) https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2330181/1/The-Dragon-Isles Hmm, another fantasy story I liked was Skin Deep by Anego. The writing is on the more YA side, perfect for a teen audience, but the plot and story makes it worth reading even if you're older. It's the unlikely story of a commoner boy getting involved with the royal family, curses, and magical secrets. It's a long story- 160k words (same size as some of the longer Harry Potter books!) and everything that happens in it is quite fresh. It's a little inspired by Beauty and the Beast tropes, but I haven't read another story like it. Main pairing is cute and the ending made me cheer! https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2241833/1/Skin-Deep For long and entertaining reads that you don't have to think much about, you can turn to the author Siese's works. They have the same feeling as TV dramas - fast-paced and full of action and events. The first story I read from them is a modern day supernatural magic/werewolf one called New Night, which is complete at 100k and also has four sequels that are also over 100k (the last one, part 5, is incomplete) . It's about a 17-year old sorcerer who solves a murder mystery and gets a hot werewolf boyfriend, and the sequels are about him doing more crazy magic stuff while finishing high school, going to college, and so on. There are shenanigans about going into the fae world, fighting off more evil sorcerers and other shapeshifters in the college arc as well. Main pairing is super tightknit and loyal, and there are lots of likeable side characters. However, don't expect some really deep storytelling here--it's pure entertainment. I'm actually pretty sure the characters are directly based off of the Teen Wolf TV show but the author puts her own spin on them all so I was able to put up with it hahaha. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/3042866/1/New-Night The other story that I liked from this author was Valiant, a sci-fi space opera that is over 100k. It's about a captain of a bounty hunter crew and a thief with a hidden past who team up to overturn the galaxy.... probably. I actually don't remember the details of this one very well but I remember liking it. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/3136290/1/Valiant Nor Iron Bars a Cage was another of my fav fantasy magic stories. This one was much more character-focused I think, but it's 100k so definitely full of plot and action as well. It's about a sorcerer who couldn't stand to be touched anymore so he became a complete hermit, and his old friend, a knight who came with a summons from the King. The two of them have to work together to protect their kingdom with some unexpected methods. A very lovely friends to lovers story with some awesome use of magic as well. http://www.mmromancegroup.com/nor-iron-bars-a-cage-by-kaje-harper-♥/ Then there are some other stories which can be a bit more hit-or-miss which I'll put in this spoiler... Spoiler: Other stories In the Company of Shadows is a huge four-book series about a superassassin and a spy who get paired up to work together, fall into a relationship, and fall into all sorts of dramatic events along the way. I got hooked on the first book because it has not only BL but also tons of action, spy sequences, infiltration, etc etc. It's a thriller to the T. That was why, when the later books started introducing all sorts of really dark and terrible things, I was still hooked to binge read through all of them even though it was so dark... Seriously, it's an emotional roller coaster. It does have a happy ending though. If you're in the mood for some thrilling spy stuff + raunchy smut + tons of drama then this is the story for you. Now that I'm older I don't have the energy to keep up with this kind of thing though... I even dropped stories like Kill the Lights and the other entertainment BLs because of that haha. Anyway, you can download all ebooks for free. http://www.inthecompanyofshadows.com/ The Last Pure Human is pretty much a yaoi in text form. It's about a man who is the last human in the world waking up after being cryogenically frozen. He finds himself on a planet inhabited byyyyy extremely tall cat-eared cat-tailed aliens. Haha. They're all ikemen. Here's the summary from the site because I can't explain it any better: Kasan, a prince of the feline Kyashin race, is in deep shit. He’s in heat, he needs a consort to help him survive it, and his uncle has locked him away from every available candidate. When he’s offered a small human male at the last moment, he’s quite happy to accept. His new consort, on the other hand, is a little less than pleased with the situation. So what’s a human to do when he finds himself in the bed of a hot, sexed-up alien? We’re about to find out. It's SUPER smutty. It has some interesting worldbuilding and character interactions. It is incomplete but there's a lot written so I give it a half-rec. http://www.twistedhilarity.com/fiction/long/tlph.html The Sailor's General Superior is actually a story that I quite liked but I think the author's writing is an acquired taste. It's not a very fluffy story--it's full of plot and drama and some angst and a LOT of conflict. Summary from site: Calentine is having a bad day. His head's bashed in, his ship is sunk, and the most important man in the kingdom just fell in love with him in the worst way. It's a fantasy story where all people who use magic have a 'focus' and unfortunately for the seme (Calentine), the most important military commander's focus turned out to be him. Considering they're at war, that's not a great thing. This author's stuff is chock full of worldbuilding and strange cultures so if you're in an exploratory mood, give it a shot. Also, there's age difference (seme is younger). 139k words. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/3009338/25/The-Sailor-s-General-Superior Kastor Chronicles is another completed fantasy BL series. I actually don't remember much of what it's about but it was very popular on fictionpress and I remember enjoying it. It reads like a normal Western fantasy novel, except it has a BL pairing. https://www.fictionpress.com/s/2610244/1/Kastor-Chronicles-1-The-Forge-of-Dawn Adamagika is... a 200k long fantasy story about magic. Actually I don't remember much about it, but I did read all of it and it's the only story I remember reading off of this site, so that's something I guess? lol https://www.gayauthors.org/story/hamen-cheese/adamagikathespiritwithin/ And, well, if you ask me about fanfics I'll probably make a list ten times this long haha... sorry. There are some stories I really loved which I can no longer find or which are on sites that are so old their formatting is broken, so... that's it for them I suppose. Bonus: this absolutely beautiful and short comic about love across reincarnations http://s2b2.livejournal.com/142934.html
