But at least we got some action, which is nice. This is not novel but a webtoon, but has anyone read bagjwi sayug/ to raise a bat? It's cute ><
It's a story between a boy with excess blood and a vampire. Spoiler The cover is kinda dark, but the story is more to fluffy side
I still can't sleep so I thought I should share how I get my novels~ I like how I can ask for anything I want in a yaoi in the comments in this website: Spoiler mangago.com I consider this as porn site of yaoi. I'm always careful though. I read a story one time that started as kind of fluffy then turned into something really disgusting Spoiler myreadingmanga.info I search for good novels first in goodreads or if I just encountered anything remotely good then tries my luck in this site if they have a copy I can download. Not only m/m novels but all kinds of genre~ Spoiler mobilism.me My source of yaoi novels, mainly Spoiler yaoitaku.com Oh yeah. How did you guys started in this very healthy hobby?
Just the way I like it. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I think the only thing I can't really stand are the bestiality/furry, guro, and some bara stuff. I could live without the fat old men, but they're easy to ignore most of the time. I honestly don't remember. Do people usually start out reading shounen-ai? All I can recall is jumping right into hardcore yaoi since shoujo smut wasn't stimulating enough. (Why do sex scenes from shoujo/josei usually focus so much on the woman?! I want to see some male bodies too!) I'm guessing I was searching for a particular "theme"/tag and found a lot of yaoi titles that had it. I'm actually not as into BL stuff as I used to be, but I think my tastes have matured quite a bit since then.
I thought of that once too when I watched porn. lol There are who started in shounen ai. My friend did though I head dived to hardcore too~
I don't remember when I started reading yaoi. I just did. At first I tend to read manga only, but after myreadingmanga i've started to read doujinshi. Hijikata x gin for the win! I'm fine with gore (sweet pool is really good) but never really understand furry/bestiality/shota. Never really like small cute uke.
Wow, nice sources, thanks ^^ For me, I didn't exactly like yaoi in an instant. My first contact was with a manga titled Kaze Hikaru by Taeko Watanabe. It tells about Shinsengumi, but with fresh twist, because the MC was a girl-disguised-as-boy and she captivated Soji Okita and Hajime Saito, made them think twice of their sexuality. It completely destroyed my image of Shinsengumi, but turned me to look for other Watanabe-sensei works, which some are happen to be...shounen ai. Then, there was also an anime titled Yami no Matsuei, which was considered pretty hardcore at the time....*it's already so long though, I don't know if any of you know of them* However, afterwards I didn't especially look for shounen ai/yaoi, and even tended to stay away from them actually. But then, I sank into the world of webnovel, and somehow met Feng Yu Jiu Tian. It's so...well, captivating? I don't know what words I can use to describe it, but despite of its translator debacle, I liked the characters and the plot very much. Then I found War Prisoner, Cold Sands, etc, from then on, I sank deeper...I still don't get what made me like yaoi though...I just do *shoulder shrug*
>///< Yes, I liked it, as long as it's not so strange like the yaoi ana from before *it didn't make sense* I also don't get extreme perversion like incest, bestiality, or such. But the best part about yaoi is NOT it's xxx scenes. It's about...men x men. That's it. It doesn't actually matter if there is no xxx scene at all like in The Legendary Master's Wife, because we can imagine it.
Yes. You should read (or maybe not) the reader comments on at places like MyReadingManga (nsfw). The harder the yaoi, the more perverted the comments get. Thirsty doesn't even begin to describe it. Yes, BL without sexual content is just shounen-ai. (Japanese audiences do not use this distinction.) I don't see why Loveless would be frowned upon, let alone by "the BL community." I personally don't like Loveless because the plot is very lackluster. Since there's no sex scene as a crutch, you have to judge shounen-ai by the merits of their plot and characterization. This is purely my opinion, but I think a lot of shounen-ai out there are really boring. Of course, with gigantic exceptions like Sugihara Shiho. It's a shame that shounen-ai works like Silver Diamond, which I can see being liked by a much wider audience including men, will never get touched it because of the shounen-ai genre tag (it's bad enough trying to get traditionally shounen/seinen readers to give shoujo a chance). I'm quite happy that there's increasing variety for BL being translated nowadays. Chinese novels have been a breath of fresh air.
I do enjoy the x rated scenes in yaoi especially if its a mix of fluffy and smutty~~ I tend to clear away from guro, those with hypnotism and rape though
So...here's the conclusion: BL encompasses both yaoi and shounen ai, and more. To understand it, perhaps it's better to see this graph that was made by remy before: Thus, there are no reason why one title may be frowned upon by the community. It is just that every individual may have different preferences. Someone who likes BL doesn't mean she/he has to like all BL titles without exception.
Another question. Do you girls usually see something in normal, then delve into the fandom (like doujin or Fanfiction) to search for that pairing, or do you go directly into BL genre?
