    Short summary of each volume

    Volume 1

Because of the dimension distortion caused by alien technologies, sunlight could no longer reach Earth. It resulted in Earth to be fallen into endless darkness.

MC had a book that no one could understand. The book contained the knowledge of powerful cultivation methods, the information about the disappearance of the Sun, and many secrets.

with the limited information that MC learned from the book, MC tried to build his fortress and gather as many resources as he could, using all the money he had. However, he was only barely able to survive the first wave of the alien invasion, and forced to leave his city with other people.

In this volume, you are expected to see: zerg invasion, the appearance of the awakened humans who gained special abilities after the Sun disappeared, MC's power up journey, how ordinary people, government, scientists and the military react to the zerg invasions, and lastly and most importantly how MC's mind was influenced by the book, and things that happened around him.

As MC became stronger in this volume, he started to behave like the typical arrogant young master that exist in every other Chinese web novels.

    In volume 2

Due to a careless oversight, MC's best friend was killed by a group of thugs. MC was blinded by rage. He swore to kill every single one of the thugs to avenge his best friend's death, however, he was stopped by the military.

MC knew that he was not powerful enough to defeat military, so he left his escort team and began his journey of assassination. (This journey goes on for around 10 chapters)

After MC killed the leader of thugs. He noticed that he was trapped inside a maze city. In order to get out of the city before swarm arrives, MC began to work with the military again.

Despite he eventually got out of the maze city, it was still too late for him and others to escape. They were surrounded by the swarm, and in the end, MC passed out and he was buried underneath a collapsed building. When he finally woke up again, his world was covered with dead bodies.

In this volume, you will see the increasing number of awakened humans, and how ordinary people changed the way they looked at them. You will also see the drastic change in MC's personality. And the beginning of his mental problem.

    Volume 3

Arriving at the last surviving human city that MC know of, and after reuniting with his last family members, MC began to settle down in the city and started his plan of increasing his power and gathering his force in secret. However, his world was full of unexpected changes. Just when MC thought that the city was safe, aliens appeared, and they teleported the entire city that his family lived in into a different world, leaving MC on Earth alone. Once again blinded by sadness and rage, MC revealed all his power and wanted to kill the aliens that teleported his families into the other world. However, despite all his effort, he only managed to kill only one alien.

In this volume, you will see the awakened humans became so many that they started to have political powers, the appearance of different alien races, the MC's mental problems became even worse that he started to become delusional and have multiple personalities...

    Volume 4

Having convinced by his second personality or maybe he was too delusional, MC began his journey to find a way to get to the world where his family was teleported to.

On the way, MC encountered a different zerg race - a zerg race whose purpose was to stop the first zerg race bringing the destruction to Earth.

He also encountered a small group of survivors. Amongst this group of survivors, there was a high-ranking military officer. From her, MC learned that the people from the top of government already knew about the apocalypse, however, because of some unknown reasons, they didn't announce it in public...

Fear of being caught by aliens, MC disguised himself as an ordinary people and joined a group of refugee heading towards the next surviving city. However, he was once again trapped inside an area that was locked by an unknown alien race.

The unknown alien race later found MC and told him that it was here to select five human leaders and help humans to fight zerg and re-establish human civilization. Because of some reasons, the unknown alien race needed MC to help them to protect the candidates of five humans leaders, in exchange, they would help MC to open the space portal to get to the other world to find his family. MC naively believed them, and helped them protect the candidates until he found that the unknown alien race was lying to him. In the end, MC died in the battle, and the base of the unknown alien race was destroyed.

In this volume, you will see that the military forces and government no longer exists, most of the surviving human beings were the awakened humans and their families, you will also be able to see how humans choose to coexist with aliens. And most importantly, how the mental problem led MC to fight with the unknown alien until he dies. (until this volume, five alien races had appeared.)

    Volume 5

MC's body was destroyed, However, because of the book, his consciousness survived in a low-level zerg unit body. Having a zerg body but human mind, f**ked up MC's psychology even more. Fearing of one day he might be assimilated into Zerg's race, MC tried to escape from zerg's creep. However, he failed every time.

When he finally found out a way how to become a human again, a disaster also arrived. His swarm was wiped out by the other zerg race (mentioned in volume 4). Before his zerg leader was killed, MC and other six zerg units were given a mission to deliver something to the other creep area toward the south of their creep area.

On the way toward the next creep area, MC learned that the six other zergs were not bad zergs at all, in fact, they were as pure and as innocent as human babies, despite they were designed to be killing machines. Slowly, six other zerg units became his best friends, and best brothers.

Towards the end of the volume, while MC was still a zerg unit, he attempted to establish a peaceful relationship between the people in Hong Kong and zerg swarm outside Hong Kong. however, the peaceful meeting did not happen, but five of MC's best zerg friends were killed by humans in Hong Kong, and disassembled by the scientists in Hong Kong.

MC hated the humans in Hong Kong, however, he was also a human, he did not want to be the man to lead the swarm into Hong Kong and to slaughter people in Hong Kong. so he decided to leave Hong Kong with his last zerg friend.

It was at this time, the higher zerg commanding unit arrived on Earth. It immediately discovered that MC was not a "genuine" zerg unit, and MC had the ability to influence other zerg unit's minds. So both MC and his last zerg friend were attacked by the swarm. The sad thing was, MC survived, but his last zerg friend was killed by its own kind.

MC ended up being the enemy of aliens, zerg, humans in this volume.

This volume is the saddest volume of the first half of the novel. You will see the worst mind-struggle ever in the entire book.

    I'll update more next week.

    Volume 6

MC eventually became a human again. However, no one knew what he was really anymore. Even MC himself started to question who he really was. Originally aliens had stopped hunting for him, because everyone thought that he died in the volume 4. But his sudden appearance in Hong Kong made the hunt became even crazier. All the aliens wanted to know how did he come back alive.

More and more alien races started to come out of the dark, and MC also encountered one mysterious alien race that seemed to ne very friendly to him. The friendly alien race told MC what happened to Earth and the information of the unknown alien race MC had a fight with in volume 4. However, they seemed to be scared of something, they didn't tell MC many information about their race.

After MC separated with the mysterious alien race, he arrived at a technological-advanced surviving city. Hiding amongst refugees, he entered the futuristic city and hoped that he could find any information that might help him to make his unrealistic dream come true.

However, what he received was the information about the death of his aunt's family.

Knowing that MC would go apeshit after hearing the news about the death of his family member, and being tired of playing hide and seek game with MC, one of the alien races decided the blow the entire city up.

Millions of humans and other aliens died in this volume. It was all because one alien race was like: screw you humans and other aliens that were playing stupid game with humans…

In this volume, you will see that zerg is no longer the problem for humans anymore. Aliens started to form different alliances. The new world began to form its shape.

In this volume, you will also see that it was not just MC having the drastic personality change. All the awakened humans were suffering the same problem. And it was all because of ‘aliens’.

At the end of this volume, the author dropped a mega bomb.

Most of the aliens that appeared from volume 2 were not from outer space, they were hidden inside almost every human beings. So called awakened Humans was actually the humans that awakened their ancient memories.

    Volume 7

MC survived from the from the destructive attack.

The alien race that blew up the city was like [IMG].

MC went underground and started to kill aliens one by one.

All the alien races were like, 'look what you did, you stupid shit.’ to the alien race that blew up the city.

The alien race that blew up the city was like, 'oops, my bad guys, but I have an idea. Before you guys attack me. Let's just lock MC up. This human is annoying as fuck.’

Then, MC was locked up for more than 20 years deep underneath the Pacific ocean.

    Volume 8

With the help of MC's loyal zerg companion, MC eventually woke up again.
However, Earth had changed so much that almost everyone was as powerful as him. Moreover, the aliens that used to hunt him all disappeared.

later MC discovered that those aliens actually did not disappear, in fact, because of their abilities to possess the human body, all of them were hidden amongst human beings.

After being contacted by the last human resistance force, MC joined the ultimate plan of saving the human race.

almost exactly the same as chapter 1 but slightly different. MC did not know why he felt that the world around him was not real.
MC did not know why that he would always have strange Déjà vu.

then, the sun disappeared, zerg invasion began... everything was new to him, but somehow, he felt like he had experienced the same situation before...

    oh no, wait...

why those zerg-like monsters were helping humans?

    oh no wait,

why MC felt that zerg-like monsters helping humans was a strange thing?

Thank you, thanks so much for the summary. I really like this novel, although it's full of tragedy and struggle and plot holes, there is a sense of realism to the character of MC, even after he became strong enough to be called the strongest man in the world, he's still prone to mental illness and constanly suffered due to his past mistakes. And he made so many. :( i was so worn out reading the recently translated volume which is why I want to know some spoilers.

1.Did he lose his memory again or did the owner of the notebook, the practitioner/cultivator's memories (who taught talisman technology) affect him? After all he was sealed for 20 years.
    2. Is Dark(his Min) still alive? Did they meet again?
3.What happened outside during the time of his slumber? Did Edgar or his other companions betray him (spread his cultivation technique)? If so, why?
4.Did the MC get strong afterwards, since basically majority are as strong as he was now?
    5. I read somewhere that a major plot point in the story was the disappearance/break up of his girlfriend, can you spoil?
    6. There are too many aliens consciousness (being awakened), what is the cause and reason of this?
    7. Who sealed the sky track(?), why did the sun dissappear?
    8. What is a deviant? Are they the awakened human who were aliens?
    9. All this time the story points to the millenia ancient war of the Gods that happened on Earth, what is it? How does it relate to the MC? The glass people/aliens and the tomb that he found underneath the earth?
    10. Is the ending HE?

I know that it's a lot of question. I'm just so in need of spoilers and I can't seem to find much. So i was so happy when I found this!

1.Did he lose his memory again or did the owner of the notebook, the practitioner/cultivator's memories (who taught talisman technology) affect him? After all he was sealed for 20 years.
Yes, many times, some alien races knew where he was, and they were using their technologies to manipulate his mind. MC ended up having multiple personalities. in the end, his human personality died, and his alien personality took over the control of his body. (he will be extremely cold-blooded in the later chapter because of this)..

    2. Is Dark(his Min) still alive? Did they meet again?
Yes, it is still alive. however, it was trapped by the zerg race that invaded Earth. So, no, they would not meet again.

3.What happened outside during the time of his slumber? Did Edgar or his other companions betray him (spread his cultivation technique)? If so, why?
so many things happened during outside his slumber.

the five elemental alien races were so scared of "The Purge of Millennial" that they began to hide amongst human beings. because of this, the crystal-dressed being began to kill everything that lives on Earth. Hence the war between "mortals and immortals" broke out.

Edgar was still alive, however, he was worse than being alive. he was trapped, injured and in order to survive, he had to constantly make his own clones to fulfill the job that MC gave to him which was to spread the cultivation method.

In terms of the betrayal. It really depends on how you look at the story. His other companions did wish him to die, because he was associated with the crystal-dressed beings. Moreover, they all found out what happened to him and started to question his real identity. Is he really a human being or not. Everyone knew that aliens had technologies to manipulate human minds, or no one was willing to risk it. killing him was the best solution. Keep in mind that the human race was nearly extinct here, so even if MC was a human being, they were still willing to sacrifice MC.

4.Did the MC get strong afterwards, since basically majority are as strong as he was now?
If you are talking about the entire story MC became a leader of a space fleet. However, it was no longer a human being.
if you are talking about the next two-volume, then yes, he did become strong, but it was with the help of the zerg units that were sent to earth by Dark(his Min).

In terms of the cultivation stages, later on, you will find out that, no one, including MC, will be able to breakthrough Yuan Tian stage three, because of the rules that were set by powerful alien races(this will be explained in the later volumes)...

    5. I read somewhere that a major plot point in the story was the disappearance/break up of his girlfriend, can you spoil?
His girlfriend was pregnant when she left him. (don't know exactly the reason why, but some say it was influenced by the alien race)
Later on, his girlfriend's consciousness was locked up by one of the aliens, and her body was possessed by that alien. After, MC's daughter was born, his daughter's consciousness was wiped out by that alien, and his daughter's body was put in a specially designed container. That alien wanted to possess the MC daughter's body, so he/she could inherit the book. After MC saw what they did to his daughter, he agreed to work with the last pure human being resistance force to "go back in time". However, what he and those pure human beings did not know was that, the leader of the pure human beings resistance was one of the aliens.

it gets very complicated later on, can't be explained in a few paragraphs.

    6. There are too many aliens consciousness (being awakened), what is the cause and reason of this?
something to do with life force, the great darkness, and the great devil. I could not remember too much about it, I have to ask other readers, so I will leave this one later.

    7. Who sealed the sky track(?), why did the sun dissappear?
no one knows who sealed the sky track and what reason was it, probably the black monolith...
Sun did not disappear. Because of the dimension distortions caused by alien technologies, the sunlight could no longer reach Earth. It resulted in Earth to be fallen into endless darkness.

    8. What is a deviant? Are they the awakened human who were aliens?
We don't know, the author did not say. But from the information that we currently have, I think the zerg that invaded Earth received a wrong command. because the insects from the spore forest said that they came to Earth to correct Fire Bug's mistakes.

    9. All this time the story points to the millenia ancient war of the Gods that happened on Earth, what is it? How does it relate to the MC? The glass people/aliens and the tomb that he found underneath the earth?

Earth's mystery is currently unsolved. Some said that reason why the crystal-dressed beings wanted to kill every creature that cultivates life force was because of the command given by their master. (Yes, they have a master, their entire race was being slaved, despite they were very powerful at current volume...)

In terms of what happened after the senior practitioner came to Earth, they were two different events.

The senior practitioner was one of the leaders of a super-powerful alien civilization, his civilization is having a civil war that has been going on for X millions of years and involving countless races and galaxies in the universe... His injury probably came from the assassination. The book that MC had was an edict that contained the information of the next heir of the senior practioner's civilization. so basically the aliens that came to Earth after senior practitioner died had different purposes, some wanted to destroy the book, some wanted to take the book back...

    10. Is the ending HE?
No, it is a tragedy. Human MC died, alien MC took over his body despite he was begging alien MC very hard to keep his family's memory. MC's fleet was drifting in the endless dark universe, looking for the human beings that had left Earth millions of years ago. (it became pure sci-fi later on)

So all along he's been played and manipulated. I really pity him. Don't tell me MC's parent death was also related to the aliens. If so, that's just so..harsh. So he really did awakened which caused his alien to possess him? Who or what race was that alien? From the crystal race?

Aww... The only creature that would never betray the MC and he can't even be with him.
    1. What happened to the zerg race later on?
    2. Did he take revenge for dumb insect? I really cried on that arc.

Truee... Such a large time skip. Just some nails caused him such unfair disadvantage.
    1. What is it anyway?
    2. Was it able to be of help him later?

    1. What is the Purge of Millenia?
    2. Is it connected to Cambrian beings?
    3. Why does it seem like the crystal alien race look superior based on their genocide of alien parasite inside humans/human turned aliens. I thought that these aliens were long dead and was only brought to life due to some technique or technology, basically making humans their host and/or evolving it to reach their prev race genes?

    1. Edgar was trapped by whom? Aliens?

    2. How come he can create clones? Did an alien possess/modify him?
    3. Was he forced to spread MC's cultivation techniques by order/coercion?

I don't know how to judge the author for writing such bruising story. S/M? :hmm: I know that humans are the most complex of being we knew so far. And the representation is very realistic and can be seen based on our history which adds to the credibility of the characters. Humans are prone to great negativity, especially in a world where there is no light and full of death. The scope of human focus is limited only to his/her own survival and benefits. But throughout these, the endpoint remains unanswered. After all is over, what is the main message of the story? Death, broken friendship, mistakes, regrets? It seems like the author managed to incorporate all types of reactions and scenes just to make MC helpless.

    1. Did they leave earth just to search humans? Or it to abandon earth infested by aliens?
    2. Is this related to why Dark was trapped by Shang?
But when he fought on Shen Hua City(?) the city where 500 mil people genocide by celestial aliens ray, when the MC went insane for revenge after finding out Jin Ling City comrades betrayed him and his family was forced to commit suicide by some alien alliance, he merged with Dark and reached 4th/5th Yuan (tho due to instability and no lifeforce, he went back down to 3rd)... How come that happened if the realm was sealed by the aliens?

    1. So even before the book reacted to him, the aliens already knew it was on him?
    2. What happened to his daughter later on? No need to elaborate, just wanna know his daighter's status.
I can just lament. There were some foreshadowing in the recent translation of this. Never thought it will really happen.

Thank you for the dedication!!! :blobicecreamlove:
Who is the great devil? Is it the alien inside MC?

Uh oh. Plot hole that did not get plugged by author. :blobsad:
So the crystal alien woman did not lie. But even they did not know who sealed the sky track...
    What is the black monolith?

Tsk. Tsk. Plot hole no. 2. It's wrecked.
    Who is commanding the zerg?

    :blob_coughblood: Plot hole no. 3
    1. Is the master even named? Is the master still alive?
    2. The book is finished in the origin ryt?

So the book was not some human legacy but an alien as well. Then why is there a foreshadowing in the current trans of why the aliens took(imitate) form human form? Is it connected to their possession?

    WHUUTT?!! :blobastonished::blob_thor::blob_catflip:
    1. So an OE that implied tragedy?
    2. So the MC lost everyone after all? All of his family, Little Tiger, and Dark? There are basically no trustable comrades in the later parts.
    3. Why'd the MC searching for those ancient humans? Did he want to kill them and end humans legacy or to know the (still) hudden truth of earth?
    4. Is there still humans on earth or did he take them all during his journey outside?

Woow... So many questions. :blobsweat_2: But seriously, the author is great at writing mystery. Why is it that on the prev vol the author denotes that humanity can rise out of aliens using their own effort. But it always got overturned. Made me contemplate every volume.

My favorite so far was volume 5. Bar it's ending, I really felt the MC let his inhibitions out, or he was not as constraint as much as when he was a human despite his insect body and somewhat human brain (or maybe not). The adventure and camaraderie was a different element all throughout. It was a nice break (if only the author paced his ups and downs on the later volumes, it would've been better). And dumb insect personification of the human MC. As if the MC can (albeit unconsciously) see his prevous self through dumb insect as commented by the translator really affected me greatly. Dying for the well being of your family and friends, I think that was MC's ultimate wish if only he wasn't so burdened by responsibilities (his power, the book, helping some humans(?)) and revenge (so many past mistakes and death). :blob_teary:

This is my last inquiry. I'm so sorry for the nth questions. And thank you sooo much for responding so quick. Even giving such clear and concise explanations. :blobsalute:

Warning: All the answers are based on how I remember the story. and I read the story a few years back. so it might not be all correct.

Yes he was being manipulated all along. No, his parents died in a car accident. No connection to aliens. However, his parent's grave were dug up by those aliens and their bodies were used in alien experiment.

The alien MC came from the crystal dressed being. His code name or serial No. was 95827. His mission was also to obtain the book. However, MC gave out the book before his alien personality fully awake. The book was given to a girl that sacrificed a lot, like a lot a lot for MC. She was now the leader of the senior practitioner's civilization.

The reason why the crystal dressed being wanted the book was to overthrow their master, and free their race. (I think. Can't remember it clearly.)

Join the god's war, hunt deviants, guarding the forbidden realms, they were quite busy.

No, MC didn't even know which Shang killed the dumb insect, and where did they go after twenty years…

The seven Divine nails were the weapons of a powerful alien, that alien was as powerful as the senior practitioner.
    No...
Every few thousand years, the crystal dressed beings were ordered to check if there were any life force cultivators on Earth. Basically kill all the life force cultivators, or trap some...
    Yes
Some of them were not dead, and they slept inside some human's gene for thousands of year. Think of this way. They have a technology to store their memories inside tiny chips and inject those chips into human genes. As long as human beings are able to pass their genes to the next generation, they would survive. Of course, this example is oversimplified, but you can get the idea.

Edgar is trapped by the guardian of Earth. His existence heavily influenced the power of the leader of the sixth geological period. He also had a son. However, it was his son who caused him to be injured.

At first, probably forced/helped by Dark (MC's Min). Remember Edgar was a timid man. Without Dark, he wouldn't be able to achieve anything. Dark would most likely kill him, if he didn't do the things that MC had asked him to do.

Later on, other forces wanted to use his clones to gain reputations. There were many benefits of doing this...

I don't remember much in detail about this one. All I can remember was that there were a few sentences describing his situation.
Also, Edgar won't appear in the later volumes. Only his story was talked about from time to time. Even his clone only appeared once...

Survival is the main theme of the story. Everyone was struggling to survive in the story. At first human race, then the five elemental alien race, then the crystal dressed beings…

Earth no longer exist. The planet Earth was locked by the alien gravitational weapon and thrown towards another alien planet like a ball. Luckily Mc left Earth before two planets collide with each other. In terms of why he was searching for humans from the sixth geological period, I couldn't remember much in detail.

Dark was not trapped by Shang. Shang is like generals in the war, there were many of them. Dark was trapped by the three leaders of Fire Bugs

Oops, translation mistake. He reached the barrier between stage three and stage four. Not the barrier between stage four and stage five. to be honest, whenever the author tries to explain cultivation rules, I would skip it. so the information I provided here might not be correct.
As far as I can remember, stage three is a dead end, unless you received a Covenant from a powerful being, then you can progress further. Otherwise, no matter how you practice, you will never able to breakthrough stage three.

Yes, some aliens knew the book was with him, since the beginning.

    She died.

We don't know. some said it was the great filter as in the great filter theory... because later on, the story will explain that MC interpreted the message wrongly. there were some hints at previous volumes as well, where his cultivation method went wrong. it actually gets worse later... some of the information he got from the book was completely wrong. like there were no five maps, there were actually only four, the cultivation methods he translated was wrong, etc...

    we don't know

    we don't know

not named, but it is still alive...
the book is not finished, the author is busy with his own compay.

I think it is mainly used to emphasize the alien's ability to posse any living creature's bodies. because this will happen very frequently, later on, even alien MC himself could switch body like taking a sip of water.

    WHUUTT?!! :blobastonished::blob_thor::blob_catflip:
To me, it is a tragedy.

Alien MC has a space fleet, that fleet has billions of creatures, the human beings of the 7th geological period, and other non-human alien creatures...

MC is not looking for ancient humans. he was looking for people from his time. remember that he agreed to work with the last pure human resistance force to go back in time? he failed and was trapped in the endless simulation for the entire geological period.

planet earth no longer exist. yes. he brought most of the creatures on earth with him.

You will have more questions. trust me. Despite the author has stopped updating the book for more than a year, people are still discussing the plot. this author like to hide answers to every plot holes in between sentences.

Hey there, thanks for your hard work translating the novel.

From what I understand from your explanation here, our mc never gets the bittersweet ending I wished that at least he would get for closure after he's lost so many loved ones (He loses his humanity with no one he cares about nearby). I wanna ask if there is a silver lining somewhere? Does the author hint at a chance for humanity's salvation? And why does alien MC take humans on a space fleet in dark space, what's his purpose?

Another question that has bugged me for a while is what are "Abnormalities" that the fire insects talk about? How did humans get them, and why do the insects hate them so much? (If you elaborate on the fire and wood insect conflict regarding this matter, I would be grateful)

Also, you mentioned that the author just stopped writing but it says "Complete" on NU. Does that mean that it's only on an open-ended hiatus, or is it finally over?

    Thanks.

oops, I did not receive any notification about your reply. I hope you are still reading the story.

from what I understand, earth no longer exists, later on, the human race was forced to leave the solar system. While MC's space fleet was drifting in the space, they encountered many other alien races, and those alien races' planets were also destroyed. This is where the book ended, human races were drifting in the endless universe, and any habitable planets they reached were destroyed or dying. But because the universe kept expanding, it took them longer and longer to reach the next galaxy.

To me, basically all the creatures in the universe apart from those "gods" were doomed.

The author did not explain what Abnormalities/deviants were. But the author did provide some background for readers to come up with their own conclusion. Insects were created for war and wooden elemental insects said that fire insects made mistakes, there some other details similar to those two. some Chinese readers guessed that in the past insects were created to eliminate any potential enemies, but probably some aliens fucked up, did not put enough definition about the said enemies before producing those bugs, so the fire insects began to slaughter anyone based on those definitions. and those definitions are "Abnormalities/deviants".

It's tragedy. So don't expect anything good. MC eventually realised that he was trapped inside a simulation.

Baktun, leaders of the crystal-dressed beings/Tzolkʼin beings.
There were 13 of them. Highly advanced civilization, but being enslaved by gods after learning the secret of immortality.
Every Tzolkʼin being had a sequence that started with their Bakun number. For instance the Tzolkʼin beings that followed the order of first Bakun will be 1.xx.xx.xx.xx

    From Mayan mythology

And if you could, can you tell me what happen after he escaped from the node of the fake stele?
All I know is till he fell down to the seven era. Also, will he reach 4th heaven or level up soon after?

I'm not sure. Cause I haven't translated that far and my memory is kind fuzzy.
