This is the only right thing you can do Dark Theme is the default answer, but don't go white text on black background, choose a dark gray instead of black
Dark theme is much better in general and here is why: 1) If you have an AMOLED screen on your mobile device, black background will save you over 2X battery life 2) Modern white color contains Blue LEDs which spectrum wise effect your sleep schedule due to forcing your body to release melatonin By the way, can't you just implement a dark theme and light theme via css swapping? https://designshack.net/articles/css/lightsoff/
The style tag is blocked, so I can't do that... (I think) I'm going to try changing background colors with various methods to see if one works now~
I never use dark themes. Its hurtfull to the eyes. Especially for reading. Im already reading stuff in a long periode, I dont need something that can strain my eyes further on top of that. It doesnt really metter for the website tho.. Since I just use reading mode to whiten it most of the time.
I would sincerely suggest @Shance's opinion on a gray theme. White is definitely out. A dark theme is the way to go but you're missing the point if the contrast is too sharp as that would also hurt the eyes. Pardon me for going off topic but it seems you have some insight into how the web works, couldn't you choose an alternative to wordpress? EDIT: Saw another post... Wordpress restricts you to utilize certain colors? Where's the theming capability O,o
I can only use these tags: address, a, abbr, acronym, area, article, aside, b, big, blockquote, br, caption, cite, class, code, col, del, details, dd, div, dl, dt, em, figure, figcaption, footer, font, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, header, hgroup, hr, i, img, ins, kbd, li, map, mark, ol, p, pre, q, rp, rt, rtc, ruby, s, section, small, span, strike, strong, sub, summary, sup, table, tbody, td, tfoot, th, thead, tr, tt, u, ul, var
Pretty sure you could do css no? https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/ Well technically, light theme would put more stress on the eyes. You are not talking about reading off paper but of digital. The only issue would be the contrast (hence people suggesting dark gray)
I dont know about it technically. But when I tested it, the result are pretty clear. In dark theme, well... it gets pretty bad when I read from it. I got no problem reading twice as long in the light theme.
i pick light. When some sites use the black background i have difficulty reading, especially when i read during night.
i just through about if you use two different sites like elengee suggested, and where: https://ebisutranslations.com/ (white) and https://darkebisutranslations.com/ while using a database to have the information and a script to select the color per page, i think this is the most difficult way through....
