Does anyone knows how is the reception of the anime in Japan? What are the WN/LN fans saying about the Manga/Anime?
This reminds me of those novels where some races like elves or beastkins call themselves humanoids or demihumans. I don't know whether it's a translation thing, or if the original author just didn't think too much about the lore, but I still find it strange when they use that kind of term.
Well based on rankings, volume 6 of the manga managed #21 for a week. https://myanimelist.net/news/53361440 the next week it dropped to 35th: https://myanimelist.net/news/53426466 At that point it had 55,119 sales which isn't too good. Slime does over 200,000.
Yeah, I notice that a lot too. A lot of authors seem to view things from the perspective of a human. So characters end up odd when they view stuff from a perspective that isn't their own. I actually didn't notice it too much until I started writing my own novel and was like wait, would an elf call things human? That is odd. So instead I opted to call the humanoid races as "enlightened races". And the elf would address inhumane as "unenlightened"
Tama and Pochi may have fewer fingers as beastmen, I don't remember if that's so, but I think it's more of a conjecture based on the evidence. Pochi came in dressed as a lizard knight, with a rapidly wagging tail, constantly saying nanodesu, and her scaly hands feel fleshy. When authors notice they're doing that they tend to overcompensate, and then you end up with a lot of elf or dwarf supremacists, talking about how they are a separate existence to humans, altogether.
Watched episode 10 of the anime. It corresponds losely to chapter 29 and 30 of the manga. The Wikipedia article says the chapter 11 was aired today, too. Still wasn't translated to portuguese (that's what I'm watching). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_March_to_the_Parallel_World_Rhapsody#Anime
Chapter 11 will be out 22, and the last one, March 29. I think this is like Danmachi. Only one season, good to know you liked it, but that's it.
Apparently the anime will end with the next episode, with the event of the witch from the forest of illusion (I think this is the name, isn't it?) Is that right?
If only the anime were more... focused in what it wants to be. Even WN to LN, it seems to lose something with it. More people could have enjoyed this, you know?
That happens with anything that gets adapted, it loses its niche appeal with every step it takes towards the mainstream. It's all the compromises that need to be made, for it to appeal to wider and wider audiences.
