I forget why Gravity dropped it, but then this happened. So in all likelihood no, Demon's Diary will never return.
not as far as we know. but QI is hoarding a lot of novels and not translating them. They do slowly introduce new translations, but hardly as fast as new novels get written
What you all are saying is pretty ridiculous. Writing new novels is free, translating is not. But if you all want to delude yourselves otherwise then go ahead
the ridiculous thing is to stop translations if you aren't going to translate yourself. They could hold off until they think they are ready to resume translation within the next few months rather than directly put everything under lockdown I don't know about Demons Diary, but other translations have been stopped by QI even though QI didn't resume the translations. Why not let the person finish or at least translate a sizeable chunk before sizing it and continue from there? better for all
Why do companies hoard patents? Why don't Disney allow others to finish their scrapped movies or use their IP without paying? Life doesn't work like you all seem to be thinking
Sorry to dash your hopes, but the chances of QI continuing Demon's Diary anytime in the near future are basically zero. There's a key difference between the translation of DD and the translations of all the other Qidian novels that were on GT. GT (Qidian) owned them; the translators sold their work to GT, and by extension Qidian. Meaning they could be shifted over to QI and continued. The issue with DD is that in its time at GT it was initially translated by three or four different translators, and then in its last months it was used as a test to train many different translator applicants. This means Qidian doesn't actually own the translations of it, and there's no single person who can sell them to them. The matter of ownership is far too much of a mess. That's why DD was taken down from GT entirely, and if QI wanted to translate it they'd need to restart from Chapter 1.
