Recently one of my laptops hard disk died while I was cloning the disk. It was a sshd, about 7 years old. Usually I did clone them from time to time, but this time when I was cloning half way, the disk dropped. With 100% bad sectors. And I can't open the backup disk with as it always say insufficient privileges. 200GB of data lost.. They should really not use any crappie 2.5 inch hdd of any sort on a laptop, it fails so badly.
I know how that feels and it has happened a lot to me, lol. I've come to terms with my laziness though, if I care enough about something, I will back it up. If not? It's my fault for being lazy. Actually now is probably a good time to back up my browser settings again.
Things I keep are downloadable later on, and if it's important I store in cloud storage, mobile, computer, and laptop.
In general, the use of hdd in laptops is very harmful to the disk. There is an opinion that the service life of the HDD in a laptop is at least two times less than in a stationary PC. This is due to the fact that the laptop is constantly being moved from one place to another, and hard drives do not like such actions very much. It is better to use an SSD, it will be faster and more reliable, although they also have their drawbacks. I'm not sure that your data can be restored, but you can try to contact the service center, maybe they will help you.
i think i have over 10 broken hdds lying around ... mostly the hdd with my mp3 collection on it lost that at least 4 times free restoration tools and the non professional once were always unable to restore more than single files here and there and its up to you to judge if you lost some files that would be worth several 100 bucks to get a professional restoration done
the time is lost my collections several times was the time of ISDN single channel 7kb/sec without flatrate if i remember right - no cloud back then
