well i've watched for... one eps (rip time, been slaving myself on poyun and tunhai lmao). i made mistake when i said Spoiler: spoillll WuXie isn't terminally sick. Eps 1 DMBJ restart plainly showed he gets terminal lung cancer i'm pretty sure that i haven't seen this scene in Restart online version. or daily webtoon (it's about slice of life anyway, who will include 'knife' here). maybe bcoz i mtl-ed or haven't reached that far. :s till end i'm gonna be optimistic
honestly i prefer 鬼吹灯 (Guǐ Chuīdēng) i haven't watched the reboot but the previous dramas were all so draggy and boring. the first 1/3 of the drama would be them talking, walking and doing nothing and then they finally enter the tomb. then the next 1/3 of the drama would be the nice parts, where they enter the tomb. then the final 1/3 would be them talking and wasting your time, foreshadowing for the next "season" which never came and the show kept on rebooting and then the show would end as if theres another episode the next week....WTF tbh i would advise against watching the dramas and movies if anyone is interested and just read it instead. or just don't bother entirely

yea but still the novels is much better than the drama(s) because of how they film it tbh the drama has had so many remakes and they all have the same format for some odd reason which is super trashy, i'm not even sure i want to watch the remake
Thanks for the info. I'm watching the whole thing in a somehow backward order. First Sea Sand now Reboot. So I've decided to start reading the novel (tha should have been covered by Lost Tomb s1 of which I watched some episodes..). Considering that the variant, talking, recording snakes appear both in Sand Sea (side story) and Reboot (main story), I'm wondering, do these strange beasts have any deep meaning? And when they appear in the novels? Thanks
Sand Sea as in ShaHai? yea, kind of. those snakes had certain meaning, tho i think in ShaHai, it has been explained. uhh my brain is becoming mush, either in ShaHai, middle-last part in Daomu Biji (the original, not reboot). iirc, the snakes were mentioned first in Snake Marsh part (when the gang journeyed into an oasis in middle of Gobi desert, cmiiw).

I'd just found out about DMBJ because of Zhu Yilong's new drama. So far, I've binge watched Lost Tomb 1, Lost Tomb 2, Time Raiders, Shahai, Shahai spin off - Huamei and Mystic Nine. Gonna study the novels next Does anyone know if there is any chart of the character relationships?
