Question Do you guys interested in reading a parody novel about the most cliché tropes in Korean web novels?

I've been an avid reader of Korean web novels for years and I'm already familiar with most common tropes in it like the back of my hand. I'm also a writer myself. But anyway, I suddenly got the idea to make a parody out of the clichés, just for fun and laugh. I'm gonna take every single over-used plot, character, and trope on web novels, from ordinary office worker getting isekai as a villainess, abusive family, mc being saint or God-chosen or whatever, ml is either cold northern duke (because obviously other territory doesn't exist except the north) or crown prince, and of course ml have to has black hair and red eyes, misunderstanding, etc, etc. Lol... So, are you guys interested in reading it if I do make one?

 

Depends if it's well written.

 

The real question is, Does at least one of them have a terrible family? Maybe they're both orphans?

 

Of course, they would... Lol... I wrote down the opening line already. And well, it's a comedy. So don't expect beautiful writing in this. I'm saving that for my other book.

Everybody agreed that I, Kim Seoyeon, was the most ordinary office worker in Korea ever. I thought this to myself as I opened the notification on my phone that informed me of the newly released chapter of my favorite web novel called "I Became the Wife of a Cold-Hearted Northern Duke."

I walked home to my boring apartment alone after a tiring day in the boring office, with a boring colleagues, and a boring job because obviously I didn’t have any friends.

Oh, did I forget to mention that I was an orphan?

Because clearly, like a large number of female protagonists in web novels, I had to have miserable life so I wouldn't have any lingering feeling and could care less if I exist in this world or transport to another world right this second.

I began to cross the street, eyes focusing on my phone. I didn’t even see a big truck coming my way.

It was too late when I finally realized.

Holy moly, Truck-kun! My escort to another world!

The last thing I saw before losing consciousness was my phone screen showing me the cover of my favorite web novel.

 

Only if it's short. Most parodies/satires only work if they short since the will morph into what they satirised. Ie. History's Strongest Senior brother . And you can satirise for only so long.

 

Parodies can be great but the depend entirely on the writers ability to be funny! Otherwise parodies can suck tremendous ass. I think you should just go for it regardless of what people think. It can never be bad for your skills as a writer to just go for it.

I like the intro. Its funny and clearly sets the tone of whatever will be written next.

 

To be honest, it's going to be very different from my usual writing style. I like beautiful writing and most certainly character driven story (with deep emotions, etc). And my current ongoing project is an angst story. So this would be like a complete opposite. Hahaha... I just thought it'd be fun as a side project. I only planned to make it short, like 4-5 chapters only.

Well, I think blonde hair blue eyes are the most common though.

 

I don’t read a lot of FL romance fantasy genre, because I find it to be too repetitive for me, anyway can’t say for sure but she’ll definitely be one of them “I’m trying to avoid the storyline! Can’t get involved with the characters cuz I’m cold hearted villainess to them blah blah! I’m going to die! I’m getting a divorce with crown prince cuz his such stuck up son of rich bitch, who can’t take rejecting from a badass girl boss like meh!! Can’t believe of simped for him before! OhMIGOD! Is that the cold hearted second male lead/ Villain of the story who lives in the north! Jee why is he acting so warm towards me???” Lol

 

Omg!! This is literally so true. They're the most common over-used plot. Lol...

Tbh, I barely read any webnovel recently because I got too fed up with it. The reason I started writing novel in the first place was because I was bored with the same repetitive mc and tropes, so I decided to just make my own. Lol...

This story was actually inspired by a manhwa that I hate so much to the point that I kept thinking about it and ended up making this novel out of spite. It combined isekai, reincarnation, and regression into one. It's very angsty though. But surprisingly got quite positive feedback on Wattpad. Mistakes I have made trying to write this kind of satire:

- Expecting people to understand that it was in fact satire.*
- Once you have to explain a joke, the joke is dead. Never explain the joke if it misses.
- Try not to mix cultures (ie truck-kun in a Korean-style story or bread shuttles in a Japanese-style story.)
- Don't get sidetracked watching a K-drama and forget to write.

* This turns out to be the only thing important that I have written here.

 

I'll change that to Mr. Truck instead then. Hahaha... Well, I'll be putting humor, parody, comedy in the tags. So they should know what they're getting into. Lol...

 

Seriously! I can't imagine living in a world without modern technologies. Like how those transmigrators not miss them? Women basically had no rights in those mediaeval times, bad hygiene, no health benefits. Men saw them as their properties and even in manhwa, the obsessive creepy stalker, murderer ml would be in jail for these and the fact that FL falls in love with them grinds my gear. Love the opening. Can't wait for more.

The fact that FL is is 30 has sold me already. For some reason FL in manhwa are never allowed to be over 24.
Also dark hair green eyes FL is my weaknesses.
