My routers half way across the house and I wanted to get a range extender in the living room or my room so I don't have to wait for Vonderhaar to plug me back in.

Like I legit need an extender or I need to get a windows pc so I can reconfigure an old router but I lent my grandma the pc so urkers man.

Also, if you guys know a good ethernet cable thats sturdy, has a long life span, and can go far then go ahead and post that in the comments too.

At the moment I'm looking at a cheap router cause I could just buy multiple of those and put em around the house but good ones you guys recommend will be looked at and examined.

If you want a repeater, one from the same router brand is a good idea. Just check it have the same wifi type support.

You will need to cross check availability, price and after purchase service.

Same with ethernet cables. You will need to check if it is compatible with you router or not. Then is the price vs performance. How much are you willing to shell out.

    Check this link: https://www.electronics-notes.com/a...how-to-buy-best-ethernet-cables-cat-5-6-7.php

mini repeaters/extenders like this are the easiest to configure, if you're just looking to extend your wifi coverage. plus, it is usually also cheaper than getting a standard-sized routers

the usage is fairly simple too, and you can set it up just by turning it on and connects your phone to it (using its default wifi). once you had set it up, the setting will stick, even if you pull it out. then, all you need to do is find the location where it gets the highest network reception, and keep it there. (it has l.e.d to indicate signal strength, red, amber, green etc)

if your main routers have dual band, that is to say, 2.4GHz and 5GHz, you might want to get extenders thats capable of dual-band too. otherwise, you'll stuck with 2.4GHz.

You can generally use most routers as repeaters, that said for repeaters you need to insure they support the same bands at acceptable speeds. That said, how many devices are you trying to hook up? Just the PC? If so, maybe Powerline is a better option. It effectively runs ethernet through your electrical powerlines. You'll get a much more faster and stable connection usually.

Are they in the same place? Do you plan on gaming online? If so then powerline is a much more better option due to the faster speed and more stable connection.

If you buy a cable, any cable ever, check monoprice.com first. They make quality cables and they all have a lifetime warranty; all you have to do is send the report in and they send a replacement cable within a week. They don't even ask for the broken one.

Don't forget that repeaters which are not connected to Lan and only use WiFi increase your latency and reduce the network speed considerably. This is not a problem with one repeater but it becomes troublesome with multiple.
