Discussion Do you sometimes feel out of place when you are with your friends?

Idk abt u but I seldom get this feeling that I am 'alone' when I mingle with my friend circle. Its like we are in different spaces. I do chat and discuss but still there is a part of me that screams 'loneliness'.
Do you feel this way too??
What do you think could be a plausible explanation for this??

I think you mean "often" or maybe "ocassionally", not "seldom".

Maybe for some reason you don't feel included?
Do you normally feel lonely? Like, is it a common emotion for you to feel in your daily life?

Food for thought:
1. Mismatch of interests - your mind is on another topic. You'd rather be doing something else or discussing another topic
2. Mismatch of IQ - 15 points separates average from special ed. 2.5 standard devs makes someone incomprehensible. See Curse of the High IQ.
3. Fatigue - introverts lose energy in social interaction. At some point the energy mismatch feels uncomfortable and leads to the introvert disconnecting or becoming dissonant with surroundings.
4. Imbalance of emotions - one party puts way more importance than the the other(s) on the relationship. Less applicable if the the feeling is occassional

 

it's a bit weird to say you rarely feel lonely though when you're trying to discuss why you might be feeling that way. Maybe something more along the lines of "every once in awhile, I feel like I'm alone even when I'm with my friends".

I had that come up a few times before, but mostly when I was younger and was in school. I suppose it doesn't really happen when you aren't around people very much anymore.

p.s. the reason anonmouse is saying seldom isn't the word, is because it sounds like you're implying it's a normal thing but it 'seldom' happens to you. It's just the inherent nature of that word. 'Sometimes' would be clearer in its nature. (or 'hardly ever'.)

Maybe. But even while chatting online wid my friends i still feel out of place.
