Just curious. with the smartphone/tablet being more powerful each iteration, soon enough, I don't think people, with the exception of power user or gamer, would need a PC tower. Laptop and tablet begin to converge with surface pro line. There is also linux on dex, which can turn your samsung phone into another linux desktop PC. for daily office use, even I would argue that LoD is sufficient for this purpose. is there any nuffians who only use one device? Not because of monetary restriction, but because of their needs in computing can be done on that one device?
I mainly use PC at home, laptop at school, phone all the time to read novels When you got a dual screen setup on PC the laptop isn't as impressive.
Considering what people pay in 2 years assuming they get a new shiny phone each year is more than enough for a good PC... There is a limit as you start reducing the size the price increases. PC is comfortable to use at home. Tablets are a great workplace device and laptops are great out and about. Honestly each device has its place. As items become smaller they become more difficult to work on. PC is like a trusty car you can pop the hood open take some parts out and fix it fairly quickly or if you want to upgrade it just change some systems and go about it that way. Laptops/tablets/phones don't have much in terms of extra space and thus less chance to modify and levelup so to speak. They start at a high level but that's it. They cannot go further.
I'm a gamer, so ofc I have a desktop PC. I do also have a laptop, an iPhone and, heck, even a tablet. I don't use the laptop at all these days, and only my mom bothers with the tablet. But the iPhone? Sure. I use it as much as my desktop, even. I can read on it, and it's extremely.. well, mobile. I take it everywhere I go. It fits in my damn pocket. There's nothing more convenient than that.
still looking for an old cheap C2D ddr3 PC in my town.... damn thing the seller location was way too far nearly perfectur border
I don't have a smartphone... i still use those old phone that has 3G on it but i do have 2 tablets mainly used to read manga & novels plus a laptop & pc both can do work and gaming.
My case is just monetary and I normally use my smartphone, but have a PC too. I only use it for school affairs, though.
... damn you good. I only have a 3 years old samsung phone and a 5 years old gaming laptop. Said laptop to game and fap.
Technically, no one really needs a desktop. Especially now in the days of cloud computing where you can visualize through a thin client on the cloud. That said, PC towers are quite cheap to make if you custom build so...
Are refurbished PC not sold in your country? I can get a decent computer for $150 and something that can run a lot of games for $300. Way cheaper than a laptop with equivalent specs. Even cheaper if you get them second hand.
Portable, smartphone, tablet. I don't use the tablet since i prefer the smartphone. as for why i use a portable is because i use it a lot out of home and having a desktop PC at home make no difference since i don't play much games(i have a gaming laptop and is enought for me)
I like big screens, keyboards (can deal with touchpad tho), lots of storage... Leaving other specs like processor, number of cores and threads, ram, etc, I still rather use a desktop computer, and laptop when I'm travelling or when I need it for work. Looking at small screens and typing on the touchscreen tire me out and annoy me. It's a good way to control my internet addiction, maybe, cause I can't stand using my smartphone for more than 15 minutes. I also like to archive stuff, so I can't deal with less than 1TB. I usually need more than that. I'd be willing to switch out my technology when they come up with some lightweight alternative that has everything I need.
