still torn about this... on one side, there's pandering to the social justice warriors... on the other, it's a new thing, it might work? what about the companion dynamics? a hot (woman) doctor would get a love interest? can she get a younger male companion to mentor? what outfit will she wear... and will people call it sexist?
It would be intresting to watch! ...if regenaration is random why not a gander change .They even changed the Master to Missy >.>
As long as they write her well it'll be fine, however judging by the current women as role models in films and series lately, it's really hard to find a believable woman. They are all too perfect, without flaws
I haven't watched it in a while but I kinda was expecting there to a be a female doctor at one point of time. It would be interesting
I probably wouldn't care if it was called Doctor Who X or something. Like it's a spin-off. Set in the same universe as the originals but it is it's own thing.
It's not actually random they do have some control in the transformation in the episode where they go to the TARDIS graveyard and talking about other time Lord's he says some time Lord's actually decided to change sex or one that always changes but always has the same tattoo
well its been around for 50+ yrs and the only reason they do a "different" doctor was because the original doctor and studio had a bit a an argument over pay. So having the Doc be able to change to female as well may add new ideas and possibilities to the character
sorry, but no. I can't image a woman to be like him, and if he was a woman that would be weird, weird personality. Also I never watched it anyway
It really just depends on how it's done. It could be great and it could be awful. That said, it'll probably be awful since writing believable female characters is apparently very difficult.
They had ample opportunity to that already, in the episode the "Doctors Daughter" also they could of quite easily done the adventures of River Song.
the idea that the doctor could regenerate into a woman only appeared in moffat's time at the helm. before that, time lords regenerated- but never changed genders.
