I feel like its kind of a washout but the series under Calpadi has been pretty bad due to terrible storylines and companions (Clara was terrible under Calpadi) I think Moffat has basically run out of ideas and drive for a while now ( The Master being female seemed to help set up timelords changing genders as canon meaning Moffat may have been aiming for this for a while now) so let's see how this turns out.
12th doctor, Peter Capaldi, will exit this season. New 13th doctor coming in is a woman, Jodie Whittaker.
Dr Who at least has an excuse, given the regeneration thing. If they do it *right*, it has possibilities. I give that about a 1% probability, though. I have nothing at all but contempt for the 're-imaging' of Battlestar Galactica, Ghostbusters, the Abrams Star Trek, and the like. (I'm not even watching the StarWars sequels until they are all out, and we find out just how badly the mythos is being messed with). Make your own d@mn stories, do not steal others works for brand recognition and then f#ck it up beyond all recognition because you prefer the taste of your own bullsh!t; betraying the essential core of the brand that's being fed upon. That's just exploitation, not storytelling or creativity. If The Doctor can play it in universe, and in character, then a gender swap is nothing but fun. That said, that's not at all why they plan on doing it, is it. >: ( Yes. this is a rage subject of mine. : |
o.o i read somewhere that the doctor would end after the current showruner left...i guess it was wrong Maybe they are rebooting/changing format
Seems like A generation of Hot Doctor who ? will start............ Who knows, it might be the final regeneration or might not be.
Im not entirely surprised that they would make a woman doctor considering that the Master turned into Missy on his/her 8th incarnation. Also, with how the season ended i believe the Master is still alive but didnt turn into Missy (since it was also her last season). ...isnt that a paradox situation?
moffat can be a bit preachy. in his last year, the show was political (mentioning trump in the cyberman episode), tangled with issues of race and sexuality. rtd did a better job with capt. harkness. harkness was gay- but it was just taken for granted. it didn't feel like it was making a statement- it just was. moffat tries too hard to pander.
I am actually interested in this. The Doctor has mentioned it before it might be interesting being a girl, he's never been a girl before. Now if this is a play just to placate to SJW's then I absolutely will hate that and stop watching. I don't want to watch a show that is just there to appease a certain group.
I hate it when they take a popular show and then decide to take it in a "bold new direction" it never ends well. What is this aversion to maintaining the status quo when things are going well? I could be wrong, dr who is a show that specializes in crazy so it may end up just fine. As long as we don't end up with another Donna noble. She was tolerable for five minutes when she became a time lord. That's it.
The doctor said, when they regenerate they can become anything. Also this is not new, people complain when they changed from the first doctor to the second doctor. And it was that change which let the series continue on from Hartnell's time. Hell some people don't like the ninth doctor, but what they like to forget is that the series was given only one season at that time so it was Christopher Eccleston dark and damaged that made the doctor feel new and mysterious. So give each new doctor a chance before you shit on them.
No, the 11th doctor was supposed to be the final regeneration of his cycle (10 regenerations after the original). But at the end of the 11th doctor, the timelords gave him a new cycle of regeneration. Meaning 10 more regenerations. Basically, theres gonna be a total of 21 people who plays as the Doctor...unless they extend it again...
The Husbands of River Song would have made a great ending to the whole series. To quote the 10th doctor "it's better to go when you will still be missed than to over stay your welcome."
actually... the master said "doctor who" was his real name. and fewer would understand if it was just- the doctor is now a woman.
She meant it as a joke. People always ask Dr Who? when he introduces himself as "The Doctor". She was also kind of breaking the 4th wall.
are we really going to go into this? she meant it as a joke- fairly obvious. i meant it as a joke- not that obvious. the main point was that fewer people would understand (or even read) the thread- if it was merely... the doctor is now a woman.
