    Have you seen The Fountain with Hugh Jackman. It's even more confusing than Donnie Darko.

    Basically long story short "He is mad!"
    But still there's a very good explanation to all that shit which I found by Google sensei after watching the movie three times and still had some confusion. But yeah he is delusional. End of story.

    To me, it was a movie like time travelling/alternate travelling in a parallel universe (he experienced an alternate existence/possibility and 'deleted' his own existence).

    PS I think it was listed under movies you wouldn't watch more than once. I think it was on a list like that :) It was true for me since I only watched it once and it was enough :D
