Hello! Just wondering, does anyone know of a gigantic directory of all magic, possibly skills, etc., that pop up in games, stories, etc.? I was just thinking the strangest thing about "If I ever get transported to another world, I would like to have a database of anything possible". So, I set out to find some encyclopaedias. First stop was the true old Encyclopedia Britannica, then down the rabbit hole of Physics, Medicine, etc. And I was thinking: "Is there a database for all the magic that was imagined?" Any help would be much appreciated
The Necronomicon - Main Index Normal skills are boring, you gotta spice up ur isekai with mind raping satanic entities and rituals to have fun!
Thanks, not the type of Encyclopedia I'm looking for. Also, already knew of it... Though I stumbled upon it thinking it would be more... Family friendly...?
Its what I've been reading for a few years, quite interesting Also I don't think they have a pdf, but you could make one and if you do don't forget about me
intentional? to prevent basement fire or zombie apocalypses that might occur when some virgin wizards tried to pronounce some incantations.
I mean, even the [The Conjuration "XILQA XILQA BESA BESA" or "A Most Excellent Charm Against the Hordes of Demons" etc.], which one would expect to have a perfect, 0 typo chant, is a bit off, if it does what it says it does (expel demons/charm against them)
Well, yeah... Those exist in the universes. I'm asking for anything that's accessible and readable in our world.
https://pdf.wecabrio.com/magic-spells-and-chants.pdf https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26371963-magical-chants -------- apologize beforehand for derailing the topic a bit. there's a camp that believes in the power of words; even within abrahamic religions - to a certain extend - in the beginning was the word ... - https://www.quora.com/Was-there-anyone-named-Mohammed-before-the-prophet-of-Islam on the other hand, there's another camp where words (and rituals and relics) are just means - not the end. - they help apprentice to focus - but once one mastered the essence, chant-less casting is possible. i'm leaning on this camp -------- other aspects are: - universality; different cultures have their own "magic". pretty sure they don't chant the same word for something with similar effect. - intonation: german, dutch, arabic and chinese retain this aspect. - i've read a wuxia novel whereby some buddhist scriptures help cultivation because reading them would serve as breathing exercise.
