    It's probably a direct translation. たかい can refer to both the height of a person or the elevation. Not surprisingly, it is the same with Malay. Tall and high are both translated into the same word 'tinggi' in Malay and its derived word 'ketinggian' refers to both 'height' and 'elevation. Ai-chan guesses there was simply no distinction between height and elevation in Asian languages.

    oh that seem like because of different culture make different language on choice of word~
