Wonder if there's an equivalent site for English Authors and English web novels, similar to Qidian. Qidian pay Chinese web novel authors money based on how popular their novel is. Also, authors are actually authors. Not just kids who self publicize to make money.

If not, great website idea? ^^
Probably the reason for lack of English Web Novels?

pretty sure the closest thing to that would be royalroad or reddit
edit: also prob why most english novels never see the light of day other than officially publishing

There's Watpad, Fictionpress, RoyalRoadl, different things like that. However, they are just a place to draw attention to people who want to freely release their stories. There's not really a true ranking. The Western literary scene is completely different than the Eastern one. Very different cultures that made up its birth and distribution. It also has to do with its people's mindsets.

There's also TopWebFiction, and WebFictionGuide. They don't host stories, they just link and rank them.

I know there have been several attempts by people to create sites like the one the OP mentioned, but none have really worked. Inkett is the latest that comes to mind.

Are you talking about online novels or actual novels sold in paperback and then uploaded online?

You just need to find the author with the best quality to enjoy the read, if not...

Wattpad is great if you're looking for fanfiction, or supernatural vampire and werewolf romance stories with titles like "Claimed by the Alpha."

Yeah that's what a lot of people want. Like a Hosting site that big for writers.. So far its only Wattpad. Others are free like RoyalRoad. That's why most people make their own Wordpress or Blog so they can receive donations for more chapters

Wattpad's a mess in terms of searching and other things(no real rankings among other things), its also aimed at women, different from most of the people on this site. As mentioned it is good for vampire and werewolf story but expect stereotypes involving such fictions. Not that royalroad's stereotypes are any better...

What @ClearMadness said in both of his posts is correct for English webnovels. Full-length novels are where the english writing scene is

Agree! Wattpad is for women. It is meant to satisfy their fantasies.

I like that shit and it's all trash on Wattpad. I've read better stories on Quizilla. The problem with Wattpad is the userbase is full of high schoolers (mostly female) with the writing ability of middle schoolers. As a result, you get stuff worse than Twilight. The sorting and search on Wattpad is atrocious too.

It's pretty much FictionPress and if you want lewds, Literotica. (There's another site for "controversial" lewds, but I don't remember them.) Believe it or not, there are some surprisingly good stories on Literotica if you browse the top lists. Depends on your fetish though.

Like Arcturus said, the real English scene are published and commercial books. Novels are relatively inexpensive for a full length completed story.

Agreed about Literotica. It's not just all masturbation material.

There are better sites for finding novels online. Nonetheless you should pay for your novels to support the author.

Unfortunately, I can't afford the payperback here in our country. Moreover, most of my money would go to my savings (just to buy a house) as well as living expenses.

Of course, despite what I say and recommend, I am a poor college student and I understand having no money so I do know where one might go about finding western fantasy novels online
