Discussion Everyone in the net is Male before proven otherwise

It all started with Anonymous' "Rules of the Internet".
Rule Nr. 16: There are NO girls on the internet.

Of course, this can not be the case. But how come this is what a lot of guys actually believe in?
This saying implies that there are no female entities participating in online activities, especially when it comes to anonymous exchanges in chatrooms and discussion forums.
The internet consists of males, males, did i mention males? and of course trolls, who pose as women for the lulz.
Thoughts?

I think the point is, it's impossible to know for sure someone's gender online.

 

If I'm not mistaken there's s thread like this where FS and a bunch of others NUF chicas went off on this internet rule. You should surf the old threads to find out more. It was quite entertaining, anybody know which thread it was.?

 

Still, this feeling of being unsure makes guys consider you as male first, although you could be a normal girl surfing the net

 

Doesn't really matter unless you plan on getting hyped towards someone online, if not, then just consider everyone genderless if its still troubling you.

Dammit. There was a thread like this before, and I know cause I've posted there. But why is it so hard to believe? It's like saying there are no girl-gamers (screw all of you who think that). No one better post that stupid acronym of GIRL either.

 

I assume that the other is a guy so I don't have to be tip toe around their feelings. In other words, I will treat them equally regardless of their gender.

 

As far as i know everybody on the net could be an illusion created by an AI ...

On the main point ... i never believe there's a girl on the other end of the line unless i see her with my own two eyes in real life and i don't mean on a webcam or such ... that's easy to fake ... or dress up

 

perhaps a good revision to the rule is always assume anyone claiming to be male is female and vise versa?

I've actually known a female who pretended to be male on the web.... how is it relevant? No idea, but just telling you guys, you never know

Edit: I don't have a big problem with this, just saw someone on discord say this and remembered it

 

The only thing that doesn't need to be proven is everyone in Internet is an Engineer..

 

I blame the traps, they are the reason us guys have this inner fear of a creep behind the pc, although they act like a girl.

 

Most girls on the Internet pretend to be a Boy. And a Boy pretend to be a girl.. What a society...
