How is "the duke keeps a secret skillless son hidden in his palace, who he never meets" any better than "The duke keeps a secret skilless hidden in his palace, which he meets sometimes..." What advantage would their political enemies get from that?
Unless the dukes supported an ideology of treating people without skill like trash rather than merely pushing them to a lower rung in society, which would be even more horrible...

like i said one of the many reasons and fears they have is being the siblings veing pitted to each other in the near future, soma as being the legal heir and his sister the one with ability as it would be pitiful enough to be fighting against each other, soma would also become a puppet to other nobles.. and of course they dont know soma doesnt care about that and in their eyes soma is a child of course

 

But treating Soma like trash make it easier for him to be manipulated... They expected Soma to hate them because of how they treated him, they said so in chapter 72... Being nicer to him would reduce the chances of Soma jumping at any opportunity to turn against them...

 

Honestly the parents feel like garbage, but that might be in part that the translation feels somewhat butchered.

 

His parents are trash no doubt about it. After they release he has no skills they abandon him and not talk to him for one year. A whole year not one world from his parents. Than they release he is skillfull instead of returning him to be heir or or least ask him that. They make him a bastard. The author is writting it off as if it it is nothing big and the mc doesn't seem to care. But if he didn't have his past memories just jmagine how hard his live would have been

 

The parents is garbage, i think the authour trying to copy mahouka koukou no rettousei , where the relationship of mother-son was distorted and twisted. In mahouka koukou no rettousei it was explained the mother actually love her son but she can't because the side effect of her magic that removed her "love" emotion towards her son. Tatsuya also suffer the same as his mother because he was modified to not love or care for other person and only can love/care for his sister. Basically it was quite twisted and have some reason.

In ex-strongest swordsman , her mother saw that he was talentless, decided to erased him from existence and tell people she only have 1 daughter, and the father also agreed on it ,and so all other people(the servants and some noble knows but also decided to take part on it).
The parents then decided to not talk on him and tell the daughter she don't have older brother. The reason ? because they were afraid he will be used as puppets by other noble to take dispute with her sister on sucessor position. Oh my god, they then say they love their only son , and the reason they decided to cut off contanct with him because they were many spies and if they saw them visiting their son , other noble will know and use the son as their puppet.

Yes my god that was so funny, every servant , even tutor outside the mansion who visited to tutor the daughter KNOW that the duke have A SON and decided to help the parents to treat him like he did'nt exist. Yes, good so if they have spies they already know the idiot parents confined their son there.

Then they say they know their son have great talents since the start but afraid that he will be used as puppet by other noble, purposely treat him like that. Then accept him again but as bastards son born out wedlock , basically he was'nt the legal son of the parents so he can't be the sucessor. Btw they know from the start he have hidden talent but why he did'nt got selected as successor ? it was because on the examination he was talentless so they afraid selecting him will only create confusion and chaos, but well why they don't show how amazing their son is to the public and tell them the examination was wrong and not accurate look my son have great talent ? why ? ask the authour

And even if the son was reincarnated , it was so stupid he did'nt bear any grudge and hatred being treated that way. We don't know his past life , maybe he have harsher life in his past life and see that this new life was far more better and rewarding. Oh yeah amazing mc, did'nt question why his parents treat him that way, like he was talentless but he was still their only son right ? if i was him, i will sure hold grude and punish those two idiot called parents.

I dropped this novel because of the parents. Not because of how they treated mc but how author passes it off like it is nothing. They are one of the worst parents in novels but author is making it like it is nothing.

When they realise that mc had power instead of returning him to his position of heir to dukedom they make him a bastard. Like he will be a bastard for the rest of his life. And instead of making mc hate his parents or at the very least disown them he is oke with it. Why make scum parents if mc is gonna be oke with it? Dropped the serie
