People like evil_ginger aren't taking into account that MOBA falls under the bracket of RTS games. If you ignore that it's a subgenre of RTS games, then it fits MOBA.
I liked playing MOBA games(mostly Dota) but after so many reworks(still mad about the techies rework) i slowly drifted away as it wasn't fun for me to play anymore. Lol as well since the supp class are the most underrated and the most blamed class(even though i liked playing support class) that i forego playing it anymore. I decided to play Paladins(Don't want to spend money on playing Overwatch, also played HotS but the matchup takes too long and i rarely have time to wait for a match) and really have fun playing broken AF characters. moba isn't my game preference(RTS player) but it doesn't feel fun(due to the constant Salt, especially in my place) so i rather avoid playing games that are too competitive and just have fun at games where i have fun playing.

Though both are quite toxic.
Before we start a pointless debate, I would love to clarify the difference between the two MOBA... Namely Dota 2 and LoL I haven't played LoL yet but I have seen how it's played... LoL is a lot more casual than Dota 2 as well as less teamwork needed because all champions can have their own chance to shine... LoL is quite suited for players who like to be in a solo game or with no partymate.... Dota 2 is what I have been playing in all my puberty so I can speak a bit about this.... Dota 2 is a lot more complex and harder than LoL... Teamwork is a lot more necessary in Dota 2 as everybody needs to have their own roles to fulfill... If they don't have support then they're gonna fail big time in early game... And if they don't have hard carries and made it to late game, then it's called GGWP... If they don't have iniators, then it's a fail clash... If they're all carries (which is the most probable, especially in SEA server) then you can definitely say GG from the start. Another major difference is the time length... League's normal game length is around 20 to 30 minutes, right? While Dota 2 is a lot more skewed as it can range from 25 to 60+ though the average is around 40 minutes.... If you're looking for something fun and casual, then play LoL. If you want thrill and excitement, try Dota 2... They both got their good points so people shouldn't debate about this. I don't really know much about HoN as it's not that popular in my country so I don't wish to comment about it.
I personally have played soccer, baseball, basketball, practiced for football, bowled, my mom taught me how to play tennis, and with all of that I can proudly tell you... I like playing videogames more.
