Non-Fic Favorite songs/genre/playlist to listen to while reading?

Due to some light pushing by the wonderful @Helvetika I thought I'd ask what everyone listens to while reading? I myself enjoy a couple of spotify/youtube playlists full of indie electronica songs (lots of Illenium and Seven Lions these days) but yeah, what do you like to listen to while reading?

p.s. i don't make threads often so apologies if I messed up somehow lol.

Also a bonus question, do you like the genre to mimic the story or does the music stay the same regardless of what you're reading? (heavy metal while reading a cutesy slice of life seems weird but hey, to each their own.)

 

In my case, I listen all kinds of music but it's a surprise when I read and the playlist match a song with the situation

But more than usual I do get a playlist matching the story >.<

I like the song that's pleased to me. I like devotion song, pure, emotion and sad song. I like culture song. I hate rap, heavy metal, pop song.

 

Not gonna lie I read and listen to Sabaton and Alestorm when reading... Though Gus Dapperton is my go to for chill novels.

well any music that doesn't have any "lyrics" in it. so I won't sing along instead of reading my stuff~

Come to think about it, this does create situations such as this :


Imagine reading about a villian about to rape the MC's love and "History Maker" is in the BG.

 

If i do listen to music it's usually just instrumental or none at all.

If i play a music and a good one comes up, i start to sing in my head or worse out loud. Especially those songs i know the lyrics.

 

I like listening to a yt channel called Waifu Wednesdays Everytime i'm bored

Normally I listen to vocaloid or touhou music, though.

 

Mimic's the story! All the way!
Less lyrics is preferred, to avoid getting in the way.
When the story gets really good, sometimes silence is best.
